I got a text message Sunday from a fellow photoblogger inviting me to take some photos of Gyeongbokgung Palace from above on the last day it was lit up at night. Needless to say, I accepted. Immediately.
To make the evening even better, there sky turned a pinkish violet as the sun set behind Mt. Inwangsan.

Where were you standing? Great view
Not really at liberty to discuss where I was standing, but the view really was great
Looks like you were on top of the Methodist building…
Awesome shots!
Like the way you compose the frame and wonderful color!
The sky was really quite something last night. Almost otherworldly.
Things certainly seem peaceful from up high.
Nice photos.
It’s another world when you’re looking down.
I just realized this, but Gyeongbokgung is about the size of Disneyland. That that it’s an important fact or anything…
The fact that Gyeongbokgung is as big as Disneyland is an incredibly important fact. I’ll make sure the 문화재청 knows.
Simply stunning. Thank you.
Glad you like it.
wonderful shots, artistic and pro! You and that camera belong together…
Yeah, sometimes I feel good about myself. Then I look through sites like this:

and I start feeling very, very small.
A lot of these (http://www.nightview.kr/night/) look like HDR pictures. Have you tried creating those?
Well, some certainly are. I’ve thought about it, and maybe someday I will. HDR can produce some interesting effects.
Nice picture!! Where did you take that picture from??
I took it from the roof of an undisclosed building near Gwanghwamun Intersection. Out of respect for the owners of the building, I can’t really specify which.
Great photos, really beautiful. They make me ‘homesick’ for Seoul. Can’t wait to head back.
Beautiful photos, I can wait to go to Korea. May I share your photos with our group? Of course noting that you are the owner.
I assume that would be the “Sacramento’s “We Love Korea” Meetup Group”? Go right ahead — if you could do me a favor, though, use just a couple and link back to the original post with a note like “To see the rest, click over to here.”
Anyway, glad you liked the photos!
Oh, and just out of curiosity, which Facebook page are you guys coming in from? Whichever it is, I thank you for the link.
Robert,
Simply breath taking and quite moving.
