Unintentionally ironic Chinese statement of the day

China thinks the expansion of Korea’s Air Defense Identification Zone (KADIZ) is mean:

Lü Chao, a researcher at the Liaoning Academy of Social Sciences, said the latest gesture shows a provocative stance.

“The original KADIZ was established by the US more than 60 years ago and it hasn’t changed all these years. South Korea and China have been at peace over the zone. This time the change in attitude is obviously a response to China’s ADIZ, it’s not a friendly gesture towards China,” he told the Global Times.

On the other hand, as Joshua Trevino writes on Facebook, “If you can’t get the Koreans on board with your anti-Japanese gambit, things have gone badly amiss.”

The Korean military has recently increased its P3-C surveillance flights over Ieodo to one a day and is considering shifting some of its F-15Ks from Daegu to Gwangju if foreign (read: Chinese) warplanes make it a habit of entering the KADIZ uninvited.

President Park, meanwhile, said this morning that the expansion of the KADIZ was done to guarantee Korea’s national interests as a sovereign nation. She did criticize some people—including, presumably, the media—for causing public insecurity by calling for immediate action, making exaggerated reports or expressing speculative opinions.

PGH made a big mistake. LMB would not have done it. This action plunges Korea into the China-Japan War. What can Korea gain? Nothing but death and poverty. China will hit first and then Japan. Korea is to be raped by both nations. Basically Korea is a small kid who wants to fight big grownups. He will be punched to shreds.

SK is counting on the US. But the US never guaranteed to back up Korea when shooting starts. Rather, US media will portray it to be Koreans making trouble in the region. They will label it as “Korea-China” conflict. And, report it to UN as “Korea should stop these hostilities immediately”. Both the US and China agree to it. SK will be sh**ed upon by the whole world.

at least you’re being true to your handle

Sure, the u.s. Set up the original ADIZ 60 years ago in reaction to the PRCs actions in the Korean War. This Lu guy is such a wanker.

Why quote a researcher Liaoning Academy of Social Sciences to represent China when you can quote China’s FM instead?

And here is what Hong Lei, spokesman for China’s foreign ministry said on the same article:

“An ADIZ is not territorial airspace, but an identifying and early
warning area set by a country outside its airspace,”

    and

“South Korea’s expansion of its ADIZ should comply with international laws.
China is ready to stay in communication with them based on the principle
of equality and mutual respect,” he said.

at least China is not going to have a knee jerk reaction and send Bombers and Jet Fighters to challenge South Korea’s newly expanded ADIZ.

South Korea is not the Philippines, who has next to no military assets to defend their airspace. Thus, it cannot be bullied in the same manner.

Don’t be so harsh. The artist formally known as “Baduk” has united me even with seouldout, and that isn’t easy to do.
