I hear tell that them folks over there in tha K-pop studios, that’s producin’ all them fine tunes, are gettin’ wise to tha fact that their, ohhh, what’s that word… genre, might be gettin’ a little on tha stale side.
They’s a figurin’ that dog just won’t hunt forevuh. So, looks like they done went and thunk on tryin’ supmtin’ new. Country K-pop!
From Time Magazine:
Country music and K-Pop may seem like strange bedfellows right now, but musicians and producers are betting that this unlikely union could yield the next chart-busting hit. Meaning: we could start hearing American-music influences in one of the world’s most popular and dynamic pop genres.
I ain’t too crazy about them “bedfellows” they talkin’ ’bout, what with a lotta them fellah singers already lookin’ a little girly, but K-pop mixed with country? Hail yeah!
As fer that “American influence” they speakin’ of well, I didn’t even know that K-pop was a traditional Korean music. Now I love it even more. I’m callin’ mama!

A mix of the two corniest pop music genres? No thank you.
이범용 & 한명훈 – 꿈의 대화. Korean country music.
No doubt, the CMT crowd will eat this up!
Which is another reason not to think too much of the CMT crowd.

I’m working on my translation of ‘Jesus Kicked Me Through The Goal Posts of Life’ right now. And I knew who the author was of this post in the first three words – Bobby ‘Lee’ McGill.
David, I wouldn’t bark too much about that – they do, after all, have ‘Pick a Puppy’ on their station, at least up here in Kamloops.
And I’ll tell you another underappreciated genre – Korean Qawwali music.
K Poop sucks, country music is for retards. A match made in heaven.
Hail yeah!
Uh, oh…sounds like you’re pretty familiar with the CMT scene. I better watch my snark!
Mea culpa, mi compadre!

I have a sudden desire to listen to some classic Patsy Cline.

Thank you for not adding the word “music” after “K-pop”, because it is not.
This was painful to read. Lay off the Southern accent, bro.
As for the song, it does nothing for me. Girls are cute though.
Bingo.
Holy crap, that was bad.
The Grammy’s were just last week so is it a coincidence somebody thinks there needs to be a change? Monkey see, Monkey do. Koreans and country, do Koreans know what it is? There weren’t any big winners in country this year but Mumford & Sons were big winners, they play acoustic folk-rock but when Koreans hear them they think country, same with bluegrass. The Lumineers hit song “Ho Hey” crossed-over onto the rock chart.

This sounds like a page taken straight out of the Madonna handbook when she went a little “country” with “Don’t Tell Me.” Just chasing trends. I could swear that banjo was played on a synthesizer.
Not all country music is crap. I just found this crazy cover of “Crazy” and this singer makes me want to go lesbian for her.

LOL – you’re silly.^.^
If you think this resembles real country music at all I would suggest exploring some better alternatives. The “CMT” crowd for the most part are people who like pop as well, which is what the majority of “country” music has become.
Thanks for the link Eunsung, I will have to listen to some more.
Definitely sounds like a synth
I agree that k-pop has been a bit stale as of late with a roster of unimpressive rookies emerging last year.
Still 2012 saw some good hybridation: this has been by far my favourite debut last year…fuck yeah k-pop goin’ freestyle
K-pop at its best is like a compendium of 35 years of dance music, may i suggest it’s time to bring to the table a neo italo-disco remix of a k-pop classic ?
DJ Masa motherfucker are you reading this ? May i suggest 2ne1 I don’t care ????
I’m going to finish my third 폭탄주
Sorry fuh the late reply. Was a on a date with ma livestock.
Jaforey. How’s about a little Japanese bluegrass to soothe yer soul? Gets the livestock in tha mood quick like. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=xAu-Q4LttZM#!
The most popular kind is.
or rather, does.
Time has an article, “Trend Alert: K-Pop Meets Country Music (and New Jersey)”. It also introduces Ailee, Denver-born, New Jerseyan Korean American singer.
Kpop x country. Interesting combo. At least it is something different but I prefer MFBTY-Sweet dreams.
