So… do the Brits and Canadians still get to hitch a ride with us when the shit hits the fan?

in Korean History, ROK-US Issues

Secret of Korea has posted copies of some of the secret State Department cables written around the time of the 1968 Pueblo Incident, particularly in reference to evacuation plans for American and other foreign civilians.

Lots of other documents posted, too. History buffs will love it.

Evacuate? Screw that!

My understanding has always been that allies can line up with/behind Americans (as if the Yanks could effectively evacuate us all before the entire nation is nuked). That’s one reason I applied for my first and only US passport to complement my Canadian one.

Our own countries are also quite capable of evacuating us.

The Pueblo was towed from Wonsan on the east coast of North Korea, around the Korean Peninsula (through international waters), to Nampo on the west coast of North Korea is 1999. I never knew why the USA didn’t bother to intercept it and take it back.

So eventually we could maybe nuke it :)

And give North Korea another pretext to play the victim?

My cave on Namsan has plenty of ammo, ramyon and blow-up dolls. I’ll be fine.
