Reporting from North Korea, China’s official CCTV says most of the North Koreans it talked to were disappointed with Park Geun-hye’s victory.
North Korea’s official media, on the other hand, has yet to issue a position on the election results.
CCTV thinks the glum mood in Pyongyang is because North Koreans believe Park will treat the North much as Lee Myung-bak has.
Anyway, the North is expected to say, well, something about Park’s victory soon.

Wishful thinking. Remember, they murdered her mother.
I would’ve thought that Pyongyang would be secretly pleased at Park’s victory – I imagine they can use her likely “hardline” position (not to mention her lineage) as an excuse to continue throwing tantrums and being generally obstreperous (so no change there, then) – though I could be way out there?
North Koreans are disappointed with anything that is not North Korean.
That’s my sense. Any revival of the Sunshine Policy or a milder 2012 version puts pressure on the North Koreans to behave and come out of their shell. Now they can continue blaming the South, knowing that some people will buy that excuse.
Maybe. But, how would Park respond? Pyongyang probably doesn’t want to know the answer to that question.
Come out of their shell until they get what they want. It’s the pattern.
They are disappointed? What did they expect shooting that rocket so close to the elections….
