I was in Seoul for the past two weeks and on my way back sat next to an executive from AM/Interscope Records who was in Seoul with Eminem. We got to talking and he said that they just signed a couple of all-girl groups from Korea but really, REALLY wanted to work with Psy more than anything. He was a huge fan and said Psy is one of the hottest acts in the world right now(really?). Then last night I went to Wholefoods with my wife to pick up some groceries and they were playing Psy’s Gangnam Style and 2ne1. Singing in Korean. It was all very weird.

Well… it’s all fun and games until some poor song ends up at some bar or bat mitzvah… like The Macarena… or The Chicken Dance.

Some dj’s spin their own remixes in Milano too

btw, i worked, stayed and played in gangnam the whole time and i have to say i was definitely NOT impressed with their style. 여의도 is hands down the best part of seoul IMO. it’s not even close.

Told you two weeks ago that he was on his way to be the first to get mainstream attention in the US.

    David So’s oppa

“Here are the 11 top Gangnam Style parodies”

Am I so out of touch with current humour or do most of those not actually constitute ‘parody’?

Hummm… The Atlantic “analyzes” Gangnam Style:

  • guitard

I think David So’s is hands down the best parody version. F’ing hilarious! The only thing I wonder is . . . you really have to understand both English and Korean pretty well to really appreciate it. But it’s closing in on 2 million views – so apparently a lot of people are enjoying it.

I’d like to see potato farmers doing Kangwon Style or Namdaemun pushy ajummas doing Kangbuk Style or Nigerian hustlers doing Kyungnidan Style. Endless possibilities!

David So’s version and the JustKiddingFilm version make me horny. Those Asian American girls got back! Must be all the meat and fast food.

    (Part TMI, I know.)

BTW, here’s an Associated Press news clip about it:

Psy is interviewed briefly. His English is not bad.
