Disqus Updates

I’ve enabled the new Disqus 2012, which handles long discussions much better (see this example) and has got a lot more nifty features, all of which you can read about here.

In theory, conversations should be happening in real-time now. Be sure to check out the cool community functions, too. And if you’re logged in, the “My Disqus” has recent responses to your comments as well as a list of your recent activity.

Oh, and I’ve crafted two rotating banners. More to come when I have time.

Great! I love Disqus and IntenseDebate, much easier to keep up with conversations and revisit them later. …err…I haven’t posted yet, still searching where the Disqus login button is. All I see is a field to register with Disqus. Let’s see what happens…

Okay, I logged into Disqus in another tab, and now here is my profile appearing on this page. Looks like it works, boss!

I appreciate your doing this, btw. Second choice would have been IntenseDebate, as it’s easier to get into the archives with that service. But I love the threading and portability of Disqus, too.

I dig the new format and the rotating banners, but has anyone else noticed that since the change-over last week, we seem to have lost a few regular commentators but have picked up a number of new ones?

There seems to be a healthy number of new folks on MH, which is a very good thing, I think. Welcome to the show that never ends.

Well, it’s hard to tell, really — I asked if any of my old commenters have left due to the new system, and all I got was one email. I think some of our old commenters may be commenting under different IDs.

Part of the reason for adopting the new system, though, was to get new people involved.

About time! Disqus is great. I’ve been thinking about using Facebook for comments lately, though. Not sure how people will feel about that…

The site looks great right now.

I cannot wait to view this on my Nexus 7 arriving tomorrow. SO EXCITED.

On my iPod, when I go back to the homepage after reading a post, it resets to articles only from July 14 and back. To get most recent posts again I have to hit refresh.

Odd. Anybody else tried this on mobile safari? I don’t have any iProducts anymore so I can’t check, myself.

What really sucks about this, well, to pick one thing of many, is that one can no longer click on a comment on the sidebar and be taken directly to that comment. A distressing loss of functionality.

Those numbers can’t be right.

Thank you.

Something’s fishy.

Still don’t like it, though, right?

hi

No, it just takes some getting used to, that’s all.  I like Disqus and its increased functionality.
