Lead story from the front page of the KT website today:
“LG refrigerator survives tornado in South Africa”
A local resident, Mark Louw, sent an email to the Korean firm with a picture of his LG-made refrigerator working as usual after a tornado ripped through Deneysville, a small town 90 kilometers from Johannesburg, leaving one dead and 14 injured.
“I want to applaud LG Electronics for manufacturing high-quality products,” Louw wrote in his email. His refrigerator remained intact among the debris of his roof-less house and damaged car.
“This case proves once again LG fridge’s durability and trustworthiness,” said LG’s vice president Lee Jin-moo, who is also the head of the firm’s South Africa branch. “We’ll continuously work to win the hearts of South African consumers with competitive quality.”
As for being worthy of a lead story? I don’t know.
As for a new LG slogan? Absolutely:
“Winning hearts and minds in Africa with act of God resistant appliances.”

GE refrigerators still win
The KT lies. Those pics are just from some redneck’s backyard….
Let’s tweak this slogan, “Winning hearts and minds in Africa with act of God resistant appliances,” to read, courtesy of theological reflection, ”Winning hearts and minds everywhere with godless appliances.”
