Remember those three (former) Korea University med students who sexually assaulted their fellow student who was drunk and passed out at a retreat? The Supreme Court affirmed the district court’s sentence of 2.5 years in prison for the ring leader, and 1.5 year in prison for the two cohorts. In addition to the prison time, their personal information will be publicly available for three years.
Korea University expelled these three students last year, expunging their record at the university and prohibiting them from re-applying to the school.

That’s exactly what happened with the KU students. It was a sexual assault, not rape.

See comment 7. Legally speaking, there is no difference, but culturally, socially and perhaps instinctively, there’s a world of difference. See also reactions to male teachers sleeping with female teenage students and female teachers sleeping with male teenage students. I’m guessing these differences will be reflected in the way the two cases are handled., i.e., the girls weren’t even detained.

I’ll try to explain, TK. In this one, two guys molested a girl who was passed out drunk. In the other one, two girls molested a guy who was passed out drunk. That’s the difference.

I don’t think a Korean court would have handed out these sentences if there weren’t evidence of more than fondling, considering the careers of these boys were on the line and that they had “influential” parents. The videos and photos were deleted before they were confiscated but they should have also confiscated their computers to recover files.
