Illegal surveillance may be grounds for president to step down: Saenuri big shot

by Robert Koehler on April 5, 2012

in South Korean Politics

Appearing on a radio program, Saenuri Party emergency committee member Lee Sang-don said President Lee Myung-bak has some explaining to do about what and when he knew about the illegal surveillance scandal, and that an explanation alone may not be sufficient depending on what he says.

Or so reported the Hani.

Lee compared the scandal to the Watergate scandal in the United States.

He even suggested that if it were revealed that LMB was directly connected, it could be grounds to call for his resignation, and would make the grounds cited to impeach Roh Moo-hyun seem trivial in comparison.

No argument here, especially on that last point.

Wow, so much has happened in between that I had forgotten that Roh went through that.
