OK, now it’s officially a global epidemic — from the Korea Times:
A married woman teacher at a middle school has allegedly had sex with one of her students.
According to the Gangseo police on Oct. 18, a 35-year-old contract-based woman teacher parked her car in the underground parking lot of Yeongdeungpo Station on Oct. 10th around noon and had sex with her homeroom student who is in the 3rd year of the middle school.
Interested-Participant will be amused.
The woman reportedly has an elementary school child of her own. And oddly, while the newspapers all have the story, her husband has not been told.
The boy’s parents apparently found incriminating text messages on their son’s cell phone.
Now, you might be wondering what the legal sanction for this might be. The answer is… none:
“If the boy was under 13, their relationship would have been illegal under the current law,” a police officer said. “However, he is 15. Since they both admitted they like each other, the police can do nothing about it.”
The teacher was canned, though.
Now, I guess this as good a time as any to link to a post by Parapundit, who penned something a couple of months ago that stuck with me:
I repeat: Teenage boys do not suffer psychological harm from having sex with older women. The hot for teacher trend isn’t doing any harm.
What is this about? It is another manifestation of the drive to pretend that men and women are the same in all ways. Boys do not experience sex the same way girls do. But our thought police do not want us to see real existing differences where we should only see same, same, same, and still more same. So this woman who was doing no harm by given horny teenagers sex is now sitting in jail with $4.3 million bail on her head. Nuts.
Having a larger lifetime hook-up count boosts male sense of well-being. These prosecutors are undermining the male search for happiness by treating males like females.

Since the student was above the legal age, the Parapundit post does not apply here.
As for the sacking, perhaps it was for the best, with accusations of favouritism, all the rumours and obviously the inappropriateness of it all. I do not think a teacher-student relationship is noble enough to “liberate” or anything.

The issue here in the states is one of equality and nothing more.
I’m personally against to this, she should have been charged however these law makers were sneaky, they even made law to protect themselves (so legal age for Korea is above 13 years olds – This should be lifted to at least 16~17 years olds). Anyway, what she done was morally wrong but she dodged the punishment. I’m sorry for her husband, she must have been very hot looking.

So, the only victim in this crime doesn’t realize he’s been victimized. Both teacher and student should serve their two years in prison for adultery. Had the teacher been a man and the student a girl, a much longer sentence would be in order. When I suggested this to my (Korean) wife, she looked at me as if to say, “That goes without saying.”

To my knowledge, the Korean media uses the actual and not the Korean age in their news reports. So the boy in question is 15, not 14. Which seems about right since he’s in his third year of middle school or according to the US system, 9th grade.
