There is concern in Japan that the kids are falling behind rivals such as South Korea and Hong Kong, thus Japanese text books will get more pages. Is this the beginning in a war of pages with Japan’s neighbors or a return to cram school fever?

American (Western) type of system, American type of results. Really, I don’t know what they were expecting.
Why are the comments closed on the succeeding thread? That kind of post brings out the best in most of the commenters here, and I always enjoy reading what they have to say.
