Say hello to the P’okp’ung-ho (폭풍호/暴風虎 or “Storm Tiger” in English), North Korea’s newest main battle tank. Although North Korean propaganda claims it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread, an article from Strategy Page says something different:
The new North Korean tank appears to be based on the Russian T-62, an unsuccessful design that North Korea produced under license. The M2002/Storm Tiger was apparently developed in the 1990s, based on 1980s technology.
[...]
The North Koreans describe the vehicle as “modern”, but even if they have modern fire control (which China or Russia won’t give away and which North Korea cannot really afford to buy), they are several decades behind Western (and South Korean) tank technology.

What a relief to see some of that aid went to something tangible. I feared it was all blown on claret, cognac and Swedish whores.
North Korea upgrading its T-62 tanks ain’t exactly exciting news. I wonder if WK is running out of defense related blog material.
On the other hand, if China were to give to North Korea the J-10 fighter which KJI cherishes, that would be something to talk about.
China ain’t gonna give anything away, particularly their current front line fighter and they won’t accept fake North Korean U.S. 100 dollar bills stuffed in a suitcase for it either.
Btw… I’ve got something on the K21 that I want to post about but I haven’t had time to put it up yet.
