Reminds me of some copypasta I came across a while ago. Here it is for your pleasure, pardon the all caps.

7 – SUBSIDIZED RENT OR A LOAN TO BUY A HOUSE,

10 – A LOBBYIST IN WASHINGTON
11 – BILLIONS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF PUBLIC DOCUMENTS PRINTED IN YOUR LANGUAGE
12 – AND THE RIGHT TO CARRY YOUR COUNTRY’S FLAG WHILE YOU PROTEST THAT YOU DON’T GET ENOUGH RESPECT
I JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE YOU HAD A FIRM GRASP ON THE SITUATION…
I think that the U.S. does need immigration reform, but your thesis (“Hey, Maybe the US Really DOES Have Something to Learn from Mexico! Namely, how to handle illegal aliens.”) is flawed. Malkin shows that 1.) Calderon is a double-talking numskull and 2.) Mexico has a harsh policies for dealing with illegal aliens. She does not, however, show how adopting similar policies would benefit the U.S.
ecorn, you ignorant, er, um, wait that was a line from SNL a lomg time ago…
You either live in a gated community, hate US Citizens, or get free pot from illegals…
US Taxpayers provide BILLIONS of Dollars in support for illegals (not all from Mexico or other Latin American countries). And our system is so overloaded that it’s about to collapse. Millions of Americans with no health insurance; but illegals can walk into any hospital and be treated with no charge… Their kids (citizen or not) get free K-12 schools with free ESL training… They can even get subsidized housing in many areas…
I think Malkin should do some undercover investigative reporting in Arizona.
Now it is just plain sad that I have to preface this with the old I am for LEGAL immigration mantra. Somehow if someone wants secure borders and to deport ILLEGAL immigrants, they are anti immigrant or racist in the eyes of the American media.
At every level of government, America has failed miserably with immigration. They can’t even build a fence correctly. Now one can debate the merits of building a fence but come on, it’s a fence. How hard is it to build?
This is really very simple. First, the government needs to stop the thousands of people illegally coming in every singe day. I don’t think there is any debate about this. A country must secure its borders. Once that system is in place, deport illegal immigrants.
If the will was there, it would have been done by now. Unfortunately amnesty makes 10 million new democratic voters. The Dems stall and stall for eventual amnesty. Their cohorts in the press paints anyone who wants secure borders as anti immigrant at best and racists at worst. Many Republicans don’t want to be portrayed as racists by the media and alienate a huge voting block. Some Republicans even console themselves with the idea Hispanics will someday turn into social conservatives. So nothing gets done.
No. You get to stay at a 초대소 (which is magnitudes better than a hotel in North Korea,) get to speak on the phone with your family, come back with a great story to tell that will be turned into a book and make millions.
Don’t worry, she already did that — in her head.
So that’s why George W. Bush wanted amnesty. Wow, he’s dumber than I thought.
Or Reagan, for that matter.

“So that’s why George W. Bush wanted amnesty. Wow, he’s dumber than I thought”
Check out the bill. There was no amnesty as most understand it. It did require illegals to pay a fine for breaking the law, go back to their home country and get in line with everyone else who wants to get in.
Now Reagan didn’t veto the amnesty bill in the 80′s. It was with the understanding that we would secure our borders properly and amnesty was a one time deal. Here we are 20 something years later with the same problem. Yea Reagan wasn’t perfect.
Some people here don’t pay taxes so it’s of no concern to them. For now.
Their racism (or just plain misogyny?) comes out in their discussion of Michelle Malkin, so we can just about write them off as wankers; but just in case any of you younger than your IQ are still confused about this issue, Bush was trying to do in Washington what he did in Texas… Work with Democrats for the betterment of all.
Yes, that was dumb. They played him for a fool and beat him like a red-haired stepchild…
Reagan thought he was dealing with honest men, too. He allowed Amnesty for less than 4 million. There are at least 10x that many now, demanding Amnesty. Demanding it! Now!
How far would that go in ANY other country? They’re counting on the government to cave in. They’re assuming the people they’re robbing won’t take up arms against them.
That might not be a wise move. And invoking Cesar Chavez wasn’t too bright either. He fought against illegals and their employers. And they killed him for it.
Americans are pretty passive. Our governments go both ways; but Americans are pretty easy going.
Until we get angry. Then we demand action. And woe unto the government that doesn’t provide it quickly…
Bomb Pearl Harbor and we firebomb Tokyo and nuke Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Knock down a few buildings in Manhattan and we knock down Iraq and Afghanistan. Keep pushing on border issues and we might end up changing into the “evil empire” the leftwits keep claiming we are… Read “The Emerging Order” by Rifkin …
It’s not going to be _my_ doing (no guns or political power here). It’ll be the same folks who interned Japanese Americans in WW2, your friendly, neighborhood Democrats. Dictators always spring their traps based on “emergencies” and “temporarily necessary abridgment of rights”… And Barack Obama is nothing if not an opportunist…
BTW, how’s that closure of Gitmo going? Iraq? Afghanistan? Healthcare? DADT? Transparency?
‘Reagan thought he was dealing with honest men, too. He allowed Amnesty for less than 4 million. There are at least 10x that many now, demanding Amnesty. Demanding it! Now!
you give amnesty to 15 million illegal mexicans and in 20 years time, you’ll be giving amnesty to 25 million more. there’s an ivasion going on here. no amnesty. make their lives so difficult they’ll go back home and get in line.
For the record, I thought Bush was very admirable for doing that. I always thought Bush did at least a few things right, and his attempt at immigration reform was one. It was a pity that he could not get it done. (And I am not interested in debating who is at fault for that.)
Hospitals write off a fair number of bills from citizens and non-citizens with little means to pay. In some cases, hospitals may give up too easily, especially if an undocumented resident presents false information to admission. Having seen immigrant parents and relatives pull up in newish SUVs, suburbans, and monster trucks to drop off their every morning, seeing what these kids wear, and hearing about family excursions has disabused me of any notions that undocumented = poor. Sure, many individuals and families are, but a fair number in my community, especially married couples with children, have gained an economic foothold. Even if they lack insurance, they are capable of paying at least some of their medical bills.
Overall, I liked the Bush plan, but I thought requiring only one year of residency was too generous, and I saw no real effort to weed out unproductive, potentially law-breaking immigrants like the officially unemployed, SUV-driving, gold-chain wearing uncle of a former student. Legal immigration is a privilege. It is the responsibility of the immigrant to prove fitness not only with a clean criminal record but with evidence of productivity, either through working full-time, caring for children, or through satisfactory academic progress, including a high attendance record. I will not support any immigration reform that does not value US citizenship enough to set reasonably high expectations of people who seek it.
correction: drop off their children.
Then there is the approach that Singapore takes. Under the Singapore statutes, if you overstay your visa by 90 days or under or enter and remain illegally in the country for that length of time, you can be imprisoned for six months or fined S$4,000 or both. If you overstay your visa by more than 90 days or stay illegally in the country by more than 90 days, the minimum punishment is six months imprisonment and three strokes of the cane. If a person is legally exempt from being caned, then they are imprisoned and fined S$6,000. Those exempt from caning are women, males sentenced to death, and males over the age of 50.
