No White People in 40 Years?

Yep. Populations are mixing.

Thus, I share a little diddy from the eminently wise sage known as Russell Peters:

I don’t think it’s accurate to say that “populations” and “the whole world” are mixing. There is mixing of course, but a lot of the mixing seems to follow fairly regular racial/ethnic, class, education, and other, patterns. It definitely isn’t a stochastic process or simply random assortment. I think old divisions will remain, some of them perhaps even intensifying, and new divisions will develop. I don’t envisage a “One World” people arising through mixing, though something like this might come about through technology such as bio genetic engineering and robotics, in which case these future people will have a similar relation with us as we do with chimps or something. If you look at diverse countries with a long history of mixing, such as Latin American countries, there are stable patterns that have persisted and maintain differences.

Best population control ever? Make everyone middle-class then they volunteer to have 1.8 children!

How useful is this category or definition of middle-class when it often involves very high costs for forming families and reproduction, even adjusting for raised expectations? The implication is that people become richer as they move up and join the middle-class, but how rich are they becoming when one of the most fundamental parts of life, forming families and reproducing, becomes extremely expensive? I’m not convinced that it is simply a matter of people in the West and countries like Korea and Japan becoming well-off and joining the middle-class and then suddenly “volunteering” to have few or no kids. Incentives, including economic ones, matter. I’m suspicious of the common secularism, lack of religious faith, anomie, and other explanations that are frequently offered. You wonder if these explanations are nothing more than dissembling to conceal and misdirect people from some ugly realities.
