ZDNet Korea has an interview with Google Korea president Cho Won-gyu (Wongyu Ted Cho) about the upcoming Koreanized redesign of Google Korea’s front page.
The new page will include, along with the search box, more sections like “hot personality of the week,” “popular blogs” and “popular topics.”
Most importantly, Cho says that the redesign will not copy domestic portal sites. Rather, the facelift will be done in a very “Google-like” fashion.

The redesign seems to be live, and it looks (to me) like they did a good job. It has a little bit more stuff, but it’s still minimalistic and isn’t at all cluttered. Good job, Google Korea.
Importantly, nothing is blinking at me. If they were going to make a from the el-strippo search box, this is the way to do it.
