Went to Yongsan Station to watch “Inglorious Basterds,” which I found to be rather disappointing.

What was not disappointing was the gamjatang, a specialty of the Yongsan Station neighborhood. There are a couple of places in front of the station — some of them might seem a bit, ahem, gritty, but the prices are good, and the food even better.

speaking of gritty, werent you literally steps away from the red light district when you took those pictures? Funny how cropping works.

One of my favourite dishes – love sucking the meat off the vertebrae, but I wish they’d put more than one potato in it. But I don’t recall ever seeing it in the daylight; never ate it before sunset. Actually, I don’t recall ever eating it before midnight. A great meal to finish the night with.

Yongsan Gamjatang! That is true grit! Ah, several bottles of Hite at Yongsan Gamjatang on a Saturday morning! Takes me back…

I hate Gamjatang.

Gamjatang is da bomb. “Inglorious Basterds” was not at all a bad film, albeit flawed and never really living up to its potential. However, in 2009, which I’m sure will be known as The Year Hollywood Shat the Bed, I’m willing to take “Inglorious Basterds” as one of the better films.

If you don’t mind me saying, that looks absolutely fucking disgusting.

That looks delicious.

You really can’t go wrong with pork, potatoes, and spice.

it does look disgusting but it tastes good.

i remember a long time ago, i took this lady to eat korean food. it was her first time. she wanted to leave as soon as we entered the building.
she told me she didn’t like the smell but i made a deal with her:

i asked her to be adventurous and at least give the food one bite. i told her i knew she would like what i got for her, but if she didn’t , we would go somewhere else, no questions asked.

she ate all her taeji pulgogi and mandu. she finished most of the panchan. she even liked ‘mook’.

sometimes, things aren’t always what they appear to be.

Sometimes food can look great and taste bad, my friends bread for example. Sometimes it can look bad and taste great, my lamb Vindaloo. That looks revolting, and I suspect tastes pretty bad too.

I actually go out of my way to those gamjatang restaurants near Yongsan station. They’re excellent, cheap, and they don’t skimp-out on the meat like other places do.

love that place.

How does that look disgusting? If you like Korean food at all, that looks delicious! I’m at work now looking at those pics and now I’m super hungry!

“If you like Korean food at all, that looks delicious!”

Aye, there’s the rub.

“If you don’t mind me saying, that looks absolutely fucking disgusting.”

That comment made my night. Haven’t laughed that hard in a while. Cheers.
