I hope by using the fact that we both habla the Urimal that I can get my residency permit application pushed through faster. OTOH, I wouldn’t have voted Conservative in the last election (if I had been able to, or in the next), so I guess no favours from her, eh?

Still, it’s a singular accomplishment that she should be proud of.

Harper filled the vacant seats (18) last December because he knows he won’t be prime minister for long.

By the way, the Senate of Canada is quite different from the US Senate.

Seeing how Ignatieff hasn’t been able to overtake Harper in the polls, looks like Harper will continue to be PM for a little while longer.

CB,

A 36% approval rating is nothing to be proud of considering that his disapproval rating is quite high (47%…higher in some provinces).

Harper has been playing on people’s fears, saying that another poll would bring “uncertainty”…

He knows all too well that Charest is waiting to step in if Ignatieff falls flat. The Conservatives led Harper vs. the Liberals headed Charest…We know who’d win that one.

#3,

I know, but thanks for the reminder. As odd as it may seem, this USAer is trying to learn about his new country of residence (permit pending, so if you can put in a good word for me, I’d appreciate it).

So I’d like to get back to the Senator – is it coffee, boricha or kimchee in the waiting room?

Korean Parents – do YOU want your kid to succeed? End the soul-destroying homework in Seoul! Forget about non-stop golf lessons for your girl who can’t really compete anyway! Move to a western country and your kid can be part of a fist-fight free government abroad!

And much respect to Mrs. Martin for identifying herself as “Korean-Canadian” to the face of the Korean press. Her “C3″ society sounds more productive than any foreigner-related initiative out of Korea in…. forever.

Mrs. Lee turned down a gov’t gig when her boy was young? Well done. She may have a shot at *not* being a soul-less politician. I wish there were more of those.

Melissa Lee is a bit of a clown. Wonder when she will start a fist fight in the Beehive?!

“Ms Lee told the meeting that the road would be good, because it would stop criminals from South Auckland coming into the suburb to commit crimes.”

‘Appearing in a candidate’s debate in front of members of the Unite union, Ms Lee was asked how she would survive on the minimum wage of $12.50 an hour.

“I think I am currently on $2 an hour,” Ms Lee replied.
Ms Lee is paid $131,000 a year and is entitled to $14,860 in expense allowances, as well as $24,000 in accommodation benefits and free travel.’

chicoloco,

This is probably quite obvious but….At 8760 hours in a year, even if she worked 24/7, she’d still be earning a lot more than minimum wage.
