South Korean Fishermen Latest Accidental Tourists to the North

The North Korean navy has siezed a South Korean fishing vessel after its GPS apparently malfunctioned, causing it to stray into North Korean waters. There’s a brief Reuters story here.

BBC Article here. It must be dangerous to work along the border. I assume the land border is too well-marked by the DMZ to be confusing… perhaps these squid-fishermen were a little too casual with their work to be concerned with such “suggestions” as a border, much like taxis and buses with red stop lights.

This along with other incidents should remind Koreans that they are not “one country” despite what some people say.

You know, this is pretty pathetic. If the GPS is “malfunctioning” then check a compass (or look at the position of the sun) and head south — immediately.
