Miniskirts a Workplace Eyesore?

by Robert Koehler on July 7, 2009

You know, I must be an aesthetically tolerant sort:

Revealing clothes that show off too much leg or cleavage and women staggering in “killer heels” are among some of the “eyesores” ranked by respondents to a poll run by job portal site www.career.co.kr.

In the survey of 1,254 workers, about 74 percent said they felt upset with their co-workers’ attire. Around 56 percent of them cited micro-miniskirts, or a skirt eight to 10 inches above the knee, as their chief complaint.

Shirts showing cleavage, low-rise pants that reveal underwear when bending over, “killer heels” that exceed 10 centimeters, or outfits that are too flashy were others offered in reference to females.

Well, there you have it.

I would only consider this an eyesore if the wearers weren’t as slutty as their attire led me to believe.

Eyesores?

I think they meant, “a feast for sore eyes”. Those damned low quality translators.

I would only consider them an eyesore if the wearers were sumoesque.

At least those miniskirts make my kiss-ass views easier. Harder not to become a tosser, though.

if only there werent so many kids around … then i could probably partake in the “miniskirt” distraction the author is whining about.

They are eyesores, indeed. My eyes get sore just thinking about all that time staring at them. But then again, I’m just another lecherous low-quality foreigner who lacks sexual morals.

this is indeed a major problem on university campuses too. something must be done to protect us older gentlemen with questionable hearts — just walking around the halls or mini-plazas is too damn dangerous….

Not to mention, the closer to finals time it is, the shorter the minis and the lower cut the tops get.

Yes, I can certainly see death coming to me via a head on collision as I crane my head trying to better acqaint myself with the latest in women’s skirt fashion.

Sigh, I wish my workplace had this ‘problem’. Unfortunately it’s more of the pocket protector, taped glasses variety that seems to make up the bulk of the work populace…

I was really surprised of how the mini skirt revolution has taken off in Korea. When I left in 2007 or so, the mini skirt craze was just starting, but when I went back, it was like EVERY Korean girl was donning them. Young. Old. Tall. Short. Thin. Not Thing.

I think it would be a distraction in the work force. Absolutely.

At my previous job (Fortune 500 financial company), a vendor sent in a female rep wearing mini skirt. My supervisor had her escorted out the door by security.

There are places where mini skirts are OK, but probably not at most workplaces.

Your supervisor sounds gay.

it’s a sad day in korea when they have this type of article absent any fanservice. now that’s really gay.

If girls want to show it off, what’s wrong with catching the show? If the girls don’t like guys looking, then they should cover up.

“Revealing clothes that show off too much cleavage??”

90% of the women in Korea don’t have any cleavage to reveal and the other 10% are old ajumas…
