The Maeil Gyeongje reports that Seoul — or at least Seocho-gu — is pushing a plan to build a residential complex for foreigners on 190,000 square meters of land on the slopes of Mt. Umyeonsan in Seocho-gu.
The complex — which is being called “Seocho Global Town” — would have about 700 low-rise luxury apartments and townhouses for foreigners, a foreign school, small convention center and hospital.
In other words, I wouldn’t get past the front gate, but the ward is thinking it might be nice for embassy workers and foreign corporate types.
Since Seorae Village a.k.a. Little France is located nearby, Seocho-gu plans to develop the area as a “global culture town.”
If there’s a problem, it’s that there are some 30 shacks and greenhouse-type homes in the area with people living in them, so the ward is going to have to talk with them first.

No, probably not. The “all-access” pass in Seoul is white man/sharp suit/well-trimmed hair/don’t speak a word of Korean.
Maeil Kyeongje ^^
It’s important to try and keep the foreigners segregated in one place where they can be monitored, coddled and controlled.
30 shacks and homes? no problem. Just get the gangsters in there to roust them out, as is the usual practice. Then we can get the professional protesters to hole up and stockpile molotovs and shoot golf balls at cops with slingshots…
Hmmm… sounds strangely familiar…
Speaking of foreigners: http://www.military.com/news/article/army-news/gi-saves-child-from-drowning-in-korea.html?col=1186032369115
2 tank girls – 1 drowning rescue = -1….one more to go, guys! Much respect to that guy.
Just looked at the above comment. Dyslexia + math != good
How many of these will be occupied by Korean families?
SweetLou,
USFK members often save South Koreans, usually from drowning or from burning buildings. It’s far more common than the Korean media would let you think.
