Kim Jong-il’s oldest son and Marmot’s Hole favorite Kim Jong-nam reportedly survived an assassination attempt in China by aides of third son Kim Jong-un.
Oh, and while we’re discussing Jong-un, the Asahi Shimbun (via the Munhwa Ilbo) — quoting a North Korean source close to KJI — reports he was secretly sent as a secret envoy to China around March 10. The heir apparent reportedly met with high-ranking Chinese officials, including Hu Jintao. Hu is said to have asked that North Korea not conduct a third nuke test or fire an ICBM, while Jong-un seems to have asked for emergency energy and food aid in preparation for UNSC sanctions.

Looks like Kim JongUn has already visited China and had talks with HuJinTao (supposedly to make China understand N.Korea’s nuclear position)..
Maybe HuJinTao will play the kind uncle.

Would that mean that Kim Jong-nam is not completely out of the race for the succession of his father? What other reason would there be to try to assassinate him (and obviously anger the Chinese)? Some money deals?
I always thought Chinese were supporting Kim Jong Nam, now it turn out to be very different. China need puppet in NK, so they secretly supporting Kim Jong Un.

Maybe we have yet to see 정운’s grown up face and hear him talk because we feel more familiar with people with faces- which is why all the face-readers of S.Korea are quick to do fortune-telling on these two.. funny, but it’s all just psychology in the end..
Sounds like a chip off the old block. The young ‘un is a nasty one, it sounds like. Kill off your older brother to neutralize claims to succession. Just like old times in the Hermit Kingdom. As Koreasenty says, let’s hope they both kill each other (and their father while they’re at it).

What I find interesting about this is also, (a bit morbid) interest that the Japanese press has over all this. I do realize that it’s because of the presence of 조총련 and the N.Korean community in Japan as well, (so they probably get more info, sometimes completely wrong) but it’s funny to hear from the school’s principal that Japanese reporters were hanging outside the school to take photos etc.

I used to dismiss face reading pretty much as I do any other superstition, including religion, geomancy and Chinese medicine, but an odd event regarding face reading once left me scratching my head.
I was viewing a video of our top salesman when my boss walked in and immediately pronounced him a conman. In disbelieve I asked how he could say such a thing. He responded, “Look at his ears, how they come to a point in the middle. That means he’s a con man.” A few months later it was revealed that the basis for his sales had been fraudulent and he as well as his managers were prosecuted. Odd coincidence.

It could be that there is a power struggle between the Generals in NK. It could be that Generals ZYX favor KJU, while Generals ABC favor KJN. It could be that KJI “Knew nothing about it” because he is no longer effectively in control.
Most likely China has their tenticles into both of the Boys.
