The photographer has many more old Korea photos on his site.

What’s that big building on the hill behind Seoul Station?

Don’t know about the building on the hill – they don’t refer to it. Perhaps a hospital or church? It’s strange to see the road around Seoul Station filled up primarily with jeeps – I guess left over from the Korean War. Also, you’d think, considering how many people live in Korea, that there would be a Korean with pictures of Seoul from the 1960s or 70s, yet it almost always seems to be the case that the photos on the blogs are taken by a foreign tourist or soldier. And photos of the period seem to be rare. What happened to the photos of Koreans wealthy enough to have cameras at the time?

Oh, the second pic is MINE. I KNOW it is mine because I have the original slide. It was uploaded onto my FLICKR:

I am not sure I am impressed with someone simply taking my pic!

And if you look closely, that pic is also my avitar. It is my avitar because it is MY pic.

Oh boy…There were no Korean cameras in the 1960′s. In 1969 Park Geun-hye purchased a bikini made in the USA. That was the first foreign made product ever purchased by a Korean.

Gillian — leave him a note. I’m sure, if anything, he’d appreciate the feedback.

Robert, I went onto the blog that you linked to, but I don’t seem to be able to figure out how to leave a message. Hummmmmm. I don’t mind that the pic was used, but I am a bit upset that I was not asked first.

Just for the record, I enjoy the photos of old buildings. And I thought one of them looked familiar.

The first photo in that link is fantastic. I wonder where it’s taken from – is it on Namdaemun Gate? That bridge must lead up to Namsan?
Does anyone know the name of the Australian who took the old photos of the walls? Robert?
