I found this odd quote on the overlooked story on Ulsan’s new bicycle police squad:
“There are many studies that show the image of police has improved” after the introduction of a bike unit, Lee said. “In particular, these squads have done a great job of cracking down on street crimes such as smoking marijuana and on [maintaining order] at demonstrations.”
Who knew smoking pot out in the open was so prevalent in Ulsan?

Ever been to Ulsan? Living there would be enough to drive anyone to drugs.
Probably quoting studies about bike squads done abroad…
Can you imagine a cop in a mountain bike trying to flag down a truck or taxi driver high on ‘iropon’?

KrZ–can you read? The article states MARIJUANA.
Those Ulsan cops are on the ball.
I actually thought this was pretty cool until I noticed the cops were wearing pants instead of shorts.
How, er, Korean!

These patrols use no gasoline and offer exercise to the officers. They could be a good idea for the community, however it is enforcement policies that have a greater affect upon crime than bikes.
IMHO, smoking marijuana is not something to worry about. Talking about it is a political ruse used to demonstrate how “some politician” is doing a good job. I have yet to run for my life because somebody was smoking pot.
KrZ,
You’re obviously the connoisseur.
“KrZ–can you read? The article states MARIJUANA.”
Oh, the irony.
