Pssst… Want a North Korean Bride?

Hi there. Are you tired of the same ole Seoul dating scene? Tired of snobby agashis (and borderline ajummas) who want you to have money, status and looks all in one package? Women who fancy themselves as “modern” but have little of the rustic charm and values of the old country? However, you don’t want to resort to mail-order brides from Southeast Asia or Russia? Well, you may be in luck.

Per the LAT, there is at least one defector who has gotten into the matchmaking business and has lining up her fellow defectors with eligible South Korean men. However there are risks:

One woman said she needed money to bring her brother across the border. When her date gave her the cash, she vanished.

Then there was the man who seduced his date by saying: “There is nobody but you. I want to marry you,” Choi recalls. But the Lothario broke up with the woman soon after the couple had sex.

Okay, lying for sex. As if that’s never happened in North Korea.

I keep telling my GF that I’ll leave her for a North Korean woman – one who will do anything I want for some chocolate or a piece of steak.

I dated a North Korean girl when I lived in Seoul. She lived with her great-grandmother, whom I met once. Her parents had paid to get her out. I remember the first time she came over to my apartment. She said that my room was messy, and suggested that I drink some Scotch while she cleaned it up for me. Upon completion she proceeded to put out. God I miss that girl.

How much did she charge?

… some chocolate and a piece of steak… ;)

Here’s something to look forward to. Upon reunification (yes, call me insanely optimistic) as the Nork girls are putting out for chocolate and a piece of steak and polishing KrZ’s knob what will the Nork boys do?

Sharpen their knives, I reckon.

I wouldn’t want to get a Nork guy mad. Each have had about 11 years of military training.

I wouldn’t want to get a Nork guy mad. Each have had about 11 years of being malnourished.

Equally likely also polishing KrZ’s knobs, if we are to go by economics-dictated sex-trade of somewhere like Thailand.

Some of my long-in-the-tooth expat friends have told me that up until the early 80′s, you could still get laid in S.Korea for a bar of soap and a Snickers bar (no exaggeration). Even when I first arrived in the late 80′s, 10,000 won would get you an all-nighter on the Hill in Itaewon.

When the North falls and all those hungry-skinny Nork ladies are suddenly available, what do you think the going rate will be for the inevitable red light areas that will pop up all over Pyongyang? A bowl of rice? Some tic-tacs? A cup of Shin ramen?

The northbound KTX will be packed full of adjeoshis and English teachers!

In case of North Korea regime collapse. Keep border sealed. Protect North Koreans from South Koreans and sex hungry English teachers!

No worries. The PLA will protect the North Koreans from predatory men in the South.

I doubt it. If I was Chinese, would I fight for North Korea? It has nothing of value. North Korea is a money pit basket case that would be a near term headache for anyone who inherits it. I’d hazard to guess that the Chinese would want some sort of neutral and demilitarized zone several dozen miles south of the Yalu and Tumen rivers. Other then that, let the South Koreans poor hundreds of billions of dollars and dozen or so years to fixing that broken state.

Saw some interesting stats in the Incheon landing museum yesterday that showed 북조손 had much larger energy production capability compared to the south at the start of the Korean civil war. Could be a lot of valuable land and resources (besides the desparately poor women) to be exploited.

BTW: if you can hold an intelligent conversation and don’t look (eat and drink) like a pig you can find women in Korea interested in your insight and body. But you won’t find them while sitting in front of your computer. And you will have to use your brain.

You must be one big time loser to abuse them like that. I pity your GF having BF like you.

Haven’t you seen current state of Tibet and East Turkestan? Do Chinese care about developing and threating them equal? All China care is use North Koreans as slave labors and take North Korea’s rich minerals. This is what South Koreans and others fear.

China have such a bad records that no one can ignore, if China moves into North Korea, that will be another world war. US is using North Korea and Taiwan as baits to attack on China. I’m sure Russian wouldn’t mind because Russian also hate Chinese. Russia would rather deal business with US than 1.3 billion Chinese.

I think you mean to say 북조선?

18 SomeguyinKorea May 12, 2009 at 9:37 am

Some of you guys are sick.

19 KrZ May 12, 2009 at 11:21 pm

Just some? I guess we’ll have to try harder.
