According to a NIS report to parliament, 105 foreign nationals are being watched for possible terrorist-related activities:
Among the 105 foreign nationals, those from the Middle East topped with 87, followed by 10 from Africa and the rest from Asia and the Pacific regions, Yonhap said Saturday.
It appears NIS didn’t get the memo — instead of watching these people, they should instead be trying to understand them better. Besides, don’t they have Presbyterian preachers, Buddhist monks or Mormon missionaries to watch?

Bwa-hahahah!
I’m one of them – or at least *WAS*.
As some of ya know this story – to recap.
Me: White guy – in fact, unmistakably white.
Occupation: DoD Contractor
Scene: Songtan
During a normal drive home from work (’bout a year back now) – I got stopped in a nice little choke point where the keystone, er Korean, Cops were checking for driving insurance or something.
My turn in line comes, I show them my info, INCLUDING my Korean and USFK driver’s license. They tap some numbers into their little pocket PC then – surprise! “Sir please come with us.”
One of the cops took off in my car while I rode in the back of another cop car to the local station. I figured – I was in trouble for some unpaid parking tickets. No big deal, I’d just pay up and be on my way.
En route, I called the company secretary to help with the translation. After about 20 minutes at the station, she informs me that – according to their computer – I was a Pakistani terrorist.
You know them Pakistanis with their very Irish-sounding last names! Could happen to anyone right?
Cut to the end of the story – they finally realized that MAYBE their computer info was WRONG and that a white guy with USFK stickers on his car – just might after all be a real American!
I just had to wait for the little mouse on the wheel in the cop’s head to get back on and start running again before I got let go. They were sorry, I didn’t mind – least I still got outta paying them tickets!
All-in-all they said they corrected the error and it shouldn’t happen again. *rolls eyes*
Makes me wonder though, how could my info be so mixed up? I come in and outta Korea all the time. I wonder is some bills are being passed under the table somewhere as to let Abdul get some fake identity – and access into country????
Of course they should watch the terrorists or suspected terrorists. Probably not worth bugging, filming, tailing and torturing every Muslim – or supposedly Muslim-looking person – in Korea, most of whom are NOT terrorists.
I really hope they are not watching me, especially when I’m dancing around the apartment in my underwear.
R. Elgin, I’d love to see that… got pictures?
Of course, I’m a voyeur-masochist: I torture myself with what I see… obviously the cause of my residence in Korea.
