Believe it or not — Korea is not on the list of the top ten countries searching for sex. According to this article In 2008, more searches containing the keyword “sex” have come from IP addresses in Vietnam than from addresses in any other country.” Of course there was some competition earlier this year when Pakistan suddenly edged its way to the coveted number one position, but it was short lived and Vietnam quickly regained the pole position.
Apparently the increase in English usage is the key to Vietnam’s success. According to an earlier article: in 2005-2006 Vietnam wasn’t even on the list, but since “Sex” is now used very often on the mass media in Vietnam rather than Vietnamese words with similar meanings like “tuoi mat”, “tinh duc”, “khieu dam”, Vietnam was able to seize #1 in July 2007. If you want to see what countries made the list — read below:
According to the list:
- Vietnam
- India
- Indonesia
- Egypt
- Morroco
- Turkey
- Poland
- Romania
- Denmark
- Switzerland
One must wonder why Korea is not up there — is it because Koreans are more comfortable typing in 섹스 in their search engines rather than “sex”? Sex seems to be everywhere in Korea including the illegal spam messages that I still occasionally receive on my cell phone. PC bangs, places where young Koreans waste hours upon hours playing games or chatting, are also avenues of porn for not only old chain-smoking pervs in the corner, but also inadvertently for students. According to the Chosun Ilbo, 72% of Korean high school students received sex education last year, but apparently some are fast learners.
“[O]ver 10 percent of students in their second or third years of high school had experience of sexual intercourse. Among whom, 10.5 percent of girls had been pregnant. Approximately 5.2 percent of all respondents said they had had sexual intercourse, first experienced at an average age of 14 for both girls and boys. Boys started to have wet dreams at the age of 13.2 and girls started to menstruate at the age of 12.4, which is 1.5 to 2 years faster than 10 years ago.”

Pakistan challenged for first and then fell completely out of the top ten?
Denmark does well for a country of only 5 million people. Better than the US even, with a sixtieth the population. As the only person who has posted on here from a Danish IP address in ages what does that say about me?
Maybe Vietnamnet isn’t the most reliable source
True….but who would brag about something like this? First in the search for sex?
Someone who was trying to promote the fact that they can direct a lot of users to adult entertainment sites?
I just want to state that I approve of the whole thing and wish Vietnam the best of luck in maintaining their position for years to come.
It is a testament to communism and the wonderful results when it falls. Cuba should be bumping into the top 10 any year now. If China wasn’t so regulated, they would probably be vying for the top spot. And what a shame it is.

oh that’s why:
it’s most searched terms on google.
I’m sure if they combined searches from multiple search engines, and included, say, Naver, the results would change.
What’s the use of being the most wired country in the world if you can’t access boobie pictures in a heartbeat?
Well… ummm… my friends tell me it’s really hard to find good free Korean porn on the Internet and they have to resort to Japanese porn. Again, that’s what my friends tell me. I would have no idea what the heck they are talking about.
Hmmm no Korea and Japan? Weird.
I’m sorry, but as entertaining as this is, we can’t possibly draw any conclusions from it. This study is not even remotely scientific. We can’t even draw any accurate conclusions about the internet habits of said countries, let alone their mass psychologies.
If a more rigorous study was done, I’m willing to bet that those countries which are most sexually repressive, such as Saudi Arabia, which show the greatest proclivity to using the internet to obtain sexual information and/or images.
The use of proxies makes any survey unreliable. At the school where I worked in China, two guards were fired for watching porn in the computer lab after hours. The tech instructor got tired of XXX popups during lessons and complained several times before the guards were busted and booted.
So.. when did Vietnamese folk start having computers with pr0n-ready internet?
Anyway, welcome to the modern world! Free pr0n for everyone!
Americans aren’t in the running because we have much more refined searches when looking for porn, such as, “triple-penetration ass-to-mouth gangbang”, “bridget the midget 18 inches vs 18 inches”, “GILF MILF tranny rape”
“it’s really hard to find good free Korean porn on the Internet and they have to resort to Japanese porn.”
Not only is Korean porn hard to find but the quality is real crappy. It’s usually very amateurish, with a cheap camera and a girl who’s either kind of fat or unattractive. I don’t even try to look for Korean porn any more I just go straight for the Japanese stuff. Japan really makes high quality shit. And the babes are absolutely yummy. Don’t worry WangKon, I’ll make sure to tell Go Ah Ra that you have no idea what I’m talking about.
japanese girls are ugly.
#13 wjk,
Nope, i don’t know if you been to Japan. Japanese girls are prettier than Korean. Especially girls from Osaka and from Sapporo
