Mad Cows Versus Watchdogs — What Is the Difference?

As we all have had our fill of Mad Cow mania in Korea, with its focus upon the “citizen video reporter”, and the online discussion forums and personal blogs, which helped fuel the manic protest we also know too well, the NY Times reports on a new kind of “web-based news operation” that has developed in several cities (New Haven, the Twin Cities, Seattle, St. Louis and Chicago), forcing papers to follow stories that are uncovered, thus helping to create better community awareness.
