Playboy Miss November: Grace Kim! PLUS Hangeul Comes to Playboy Centerfold

by Robert Koehler on November 10, 2008

I knew there’s reason to read the Hanguk Ilbo.

Playboy magazine’s Miss November is none other than Korean-American Grace Kim.

She apparently really likes Guitar Hero. Her Myspace site is here.

I can’t find “the goods” yet, but a couple of generally safe-for-work photos at the Scandalist.

UPDATE: Grace’s Playboy Video Data Sheet:

100% Korean, eh? We’ll have to see the photos before we can judge.

UPDATE 2: OK, here are “the goods.” As the website name would suggest, NSWF! And note the use of the hangeul, baby! I like ginseng tea, too! (what exactly 나물인삼차 is, though, I haven’t the faintest).

King Sejong would be so proud…

You truly do the Lord’s work Marmot!

2 globalvillageidiot November 10, 2008 at 4:56 pm

Marmot, that was just what I needed after an otherwise rotten day! Thanks. Also very much looking forward to seeing “the goods.”

3 Linkd November 10, 2008 at 5:17 pm

Very pretty girl. The full-body shots look like something from a video game, though.

4 ElCanguro November 10, 2008 at 6:44 pm

Niice. Looks like they airbrushed the hell out of some of those pics and the jury’s out on whether her cans are natural or artificially enhanced – I like ‘em real no matter how big or small. But, damn good nevertheless.

If she’s ever on the lookout for an Australian with a rough head, banged-up nose, jagged teeth and limited social skills, I think I could be her man!

5 valkilmerisiceman November 10, 2008 at 6:48 pm

smokin’ hot, but i likes me a bit more bush.

6 r.rac November 10, 2008 at 6:51 pm

fake boobs and no bush, not my style no matter the ethnicity

no wonder i stopped subscribing to playboy

7 Robert Koehler November 10, 2008 at 6:53 pm

Might I suggest this then:

Greatest Australian product since Vegemite.

8 Wedge November 10, 2008 at 6:54 pm

Although the lack of flora and augmentation are negatives, I bow in your general direction.

9 Darth Babaganoosh November 10, 2008 at 7:47 pm

“smokin’ hot, but i likes me a bit more bush”

Sorry, but the state of flora in skin mags has been to defoliate as much as possible, and has been that way for FAR too many years. While it was cool as a fad on the occasional woman or as an occasional birthday present, now it’s just an unnatural annoyance.

10 Darth Babaganoosh November 10, 2008 at 7:50 pm

Robert, truly you are a giant among men. Rest assured, your place in Heaven has been reserved.

11 funkoffan November 10, 2008 at 8:44 pm

Despite not being my type at all, i.e. a woman – she’s pretty. I heard that there is a Korean version of playboy in the works…- only that it isn’t playboy – but there will be plenty of girls with their titties out for all those respectable adjoshis on the subway now.

12 whitey November 10, 2008 at 9:08 pm

Yeoman-like work from the Marmot. Thank you.

Re: the name Grace Kim. If you take one of these four first names — Grace, Esther, Jenny, and Julie — and combine it with one of these three last names — Kim, Park, and Lee — you have the names of half the Korean girls in L.A.

To wit, at one time I knew four girls named Jenny Lee. I thought of having a party to which they would all be invited. Apparently I wasn’t man enough to make that happen.

Grace Kim is hot, but the video interview made me cringe.

I, too, prefer “foliage,” as Wedge so poetically put it.

13 Bipolar Mindscrew November 10, 2008 at 9:23 pm

A lot of adventurous bush-whackers here. Good for you. Some of us civilized types prefer our lawns trimmed.

15 abcdefg November 10, 2008 at 10:24 pm

I have inspected the photos and have determined that she is none other than…. North Korea’s Dear Leader Kim Jong Il.

Mystery solved.

16 Seth Gecko November 10, 2008 at 11:13 pm

“나물인삼차”

I think “나물” means vegetables. Well, a group of vegetables that includes spinich, bean sprouts, and others.

“인삼” is ginseng

“차” is tea.

So, “vegetable ginseng tea”?

Funny thing, I didn’t even see the Hanguel the first time I looked at the photo spread!

17 r.rac November 10, 2008 at 11:47 pm

Robert, thanks for the aussie link, it is the best thing to come from there since Naomi Watts.

18 colontos November 11, 2008 at 2:01 am

Of course, if there’s no flora, it’s much less likely that there will be fauna. Or so I have read.

19 Won Joon Choe November 11, 2008 at 2:06 am

First, she’s not that good-looking. She’s looks both un-natural and not quite fully Korean. Sure, she looks better than your average street walker, but she hardly compares to the cream of the crop in the Korean TVs. (Who would want to take her home over, say, 한혜진 or 최정원?)

Second, don’t you have to do favors for Hefner if you want to be a Playmate (and thereafter as well)? Like letting him subject you to 항문 sex in front of other people in his mansion, among other things?

Ugh.

20 WangKon936 November 11, 2008 at 2:52 am

No. Ms. Grace Kim is not a looker, but I’ve found that North American standards of Asian beauty are different than Asian standards. How butt ugly broads like Lucy Liu and Sandra Oh are considered “attractive” by anyone is beyond me.

21 shakuhachi November 11, 2008 at 2:57 am

WangKon936, word! Lucy Liu, wtf! I don’t know who Sandra Oh is but when a white guy tells me Lucy Liu is hot, that is how I know they don’t know what they are talking about.

22 slim November 11, 2008 at 3:13 am

@19-20. I’ve never heard anyone pine for either actress. Presumably it is acting skills that set Sandro Oh apart from the eye-candy starlets on the other side of the Pacific.

23 Won Joon Choe November 11, 2008 at 4:09 am

Slim,

On the contrary: I’ve had several white friends and acquaintances tell me that Lucy Liu is ravishing. Perhaps there is a difference between whites who’ve been exposed to the genuine article in Asia, versus the homebody whites who’s had to do with the artificial, ersatz ones in the ‘States.

24 oranckay November 11, 2008 at 4:42 am

I knew there’s reason to read the Hanguk Ilbo.

So true!!

But actually, they’re usually better at LA region gyopo news. Also, the Hanguk Ilbo Los Angeles apparently now owns majority share in Korea’s Hanguk Ilbo. Kinda funny.

25 setnaffa November 11, 2008 at 6:38 am

“Yellow Fever” vs. “Climbing the Hill” vs. “the Hongdae Experience”?

26 wjk, 검은 머리 외국인 November 11, 2008 at 7:04 am

Grace Kim sounds like a gyop church girl name.

Would her Presbyterian parents have known that her baptized daughter would be showing herself naked in front of billions of people on print?

Probably not. Well, here’s something to write Immo in Korea about, isn’t it?

This is 2nd generation gyop church training gone wrong.

Others include theKorean.

27 wjk, 검은 머리 외국인 November 11, 2008 at 7:11 am

the fact that you can be pro gay marriage and consider yourself Christian reveals the fact that you never bothered to read the Christian book as well as you read school books, bumfromkorea.

these gay folk in California, haggling Rick Warren’s church are no different than candle light protestors in Korea.

i wonder if society would react the same if McCain supporters haggled African American churches, rightfully accusing them of putting race ahead of whatever church doctrine there is.

Grace Kim won’t be the first or the last.

that should make you guys happy, I suppose. Here’s to more stupid gyop girls posing for playboy. Gradually, parents won’t even be ashamed anymore. If everyone’s doing it. It will just be kind of weird when adjushi at church gets caught looking at Grace Kim photos.

28 thekorean November 11, 2008 at 7:12 am

WK @19,

I actually think Sandra Oh is beautiful. But that’s based on her acting — talent makes anyone beautiful.

29 WangKon936 November 11, 2008 at 7:27 am

“Here’s to more stupid gyop girls posing for playboy.”

wjk… you need to get laid… at least once.

30 thekorean November 11, 2008 at 7:30 am

Robert, seriously. I turn off Greasemonkey script by accident for one minute and what do I see? Personal attack from wjk. Do something, please.

31 thekorean November 11, 2008 at 7:32 am

@setnaffa,

I’d climb them hills all day long…

32 bumfromkorea November 11, 2008 at 7:33 am

Wjk has a point… Grace Kim does sound like a gyopo church girl name.

I can be a Christian and for gay marriage because the ‘marriage’ we’re talking about is a legal institution, not a religious one. “Banning gay marriage” doesn’t mean legally preventing homosexual Americans from having a matrimonial ceremony at an altar or on a green hill near the sea – it means stripping away civil rights/economic benefits to two people who will be as productive & functional family unit as any heterosexual couple. “Civil union” proposal sounded good to me until I realized that would probably be dabbling in that whole Plessy v. Ferguson mess.

And in God’s eye, homosexual couples have sinned as much as anyone who just looked at the pictures (nsfw or not) of Grace Kim up there (that includes you, wjk, unless you have the self-control level of Opus Dei monks in Dan Brown novels and have a whip handy). And in all probability, the homosexual Americans probably sinned a long time ago before they came out, unless they were all absolute saints.

This is what happens, btw, when you let a Buber-loving Jew teach Kierkegaard to a Korean American Christian. Now let abcdefg scold me for being delusional (;-)) and let’s get back on to the topic.

I’ve definitely noticed what Wangkon was talking about in #19 as well. Which, just to make clear, I have no complaints. :-)

33 WangKon936 November 11, 2008 at 8:05 am

Well, I don’t know about the rest of you, but I have only know one Korean American Playboy Model, Lorabel Rey. It WAS her real name.

Her mom remarried a white guy and she used HIS name as her legal name. I think in her post modeling career, she changed her last name to her mother’s maiden name.

34 WangKon936 November 11, 2008 at 8:10 am

wjk, seriously. Take a chill pill. Maybe Grace Kim is this chick’s pseudonym, maybe it isn’t. Don’t take it so freak’in personally as an afront to the chastity and virginity of Korean women everywhere!

Seriously… I’m amazed by your naïveté regarding Korean girls who may appear the proper church girl on Sundays but whore and party Monday through the wee morning hours of Sunday…

35 wjk, 검은 머리 외국인 November 11, 2008 at 8:35 am

i’m not naive.

there are Gyopos who have sex Saturday night and come in to church as boy friend and girl friend.

I have known some of these people, personally.

All is forgiven, when the girl gets pregnant, and does a Korean version of the Scarlet Letter, and somehow gets blessings in a church wedding.

Everyone comments how cute the baby is.

by the way, just based on OB-gyn experiences, pregnancy out of wed lock in teenagers is most prevalent in African American teenage girls. I just found it distasteful when their community was attacking Palin’s daughter the way they were. They themselves should know they are leading the US with this particular problem. I think stats can prove it. Grandma at age 35 is not uncommon.

i talk too much, or write too much. I might be a subject of racial hate crime.

Grace Kim is a church girl’s name.

theKorean, be a big boy, alright?

I’ve attended two weddings where gyopos ended up tying the knot because the girl was carrying a child.

36 wjk, 검은 머리 외국인 November 11, 2008 at 8:41 am

i think in African American communities, the don’t tie the knot, because they lack the resources to make it work.

Koreans, their stupid parents pay for their asses.

what is the difference between a Muslim fundamentalist and wjk?

actually, many.

One of them is that wjk will never kill people in God’s name.

wjk’s greatest insult to mankind is thru the written word.

37 KrZ November 11, 2008 at 8:41 am

That’s terrible, marrying just because the girl is pregnant. This is why abortions should be free to all and shouldn’t require parental consent.

38 WangKon936 November 11, 2008 at 8:44 am

I give up… add me to the list of those who have requested a wjk blocking script.

KrZ’s reasons to support abortion is the number one reason why people oppose abortion in America.

vast majority of these babies have no congenital malformations they will have to suffer with the rest of their lives, vast majority of these women had consentual sex, vast majority of these women have no health threats from giving birth or health gains from terminating.

you are advocating, dump the baby, because I forgot to use a condom. Promoting pleasure, without the responsibility of an act that also serves to pro-create.

this is also an act, that is religiously sacred to real Christians. And to you, too. Someone banged your girl, you find out. Your natural reaction is what? Yup, it’s still quite sacred to you, as well.

that is sin, to religious America, and by God, half of America is still quite Christian-religious.

43 Linkd November 11, 2008 at 9:01 am

I’ve just read through this without seeing anything by wjk, and I don’t feel I’ve missed anything, and have not the slightest curiosity about whatever he’s written. WangKon, on the other hand, appears hopelessly entangled in a shadow boxing match, and seems to be losing.

Before installing the quick-and-easy script, have a quick look over IHBB’s multiple-choice question again:

If anyone could find some NSFW links for Grace Park, that would be almost as good as a wjk filter for IE.

49 abcdefg November 11, 2008 at 10:50 am

This is what happens, btw, when you let a Buber-loving Jew teach Kierkegaard to a Korean American Christian. Now let abcdefg scold me for being delusional (;-)) and let’s get back on to the topic.

I haven’t written much about ‘pomo’ Christians and those Christians who would be advanced and educated enough to distinguish between faith and justification, those who are honest enough to know where their justifications for their beliefs end and where therefore they as citizens of the world are not permitted rationally to make assertions on behalf of their faiths.

You make up that kind of Christian, bumfromkorea, I think, although I understand wjk and would agree that real faith would be all consuming and would- should- take over, even if it spells tyranny, all modes of one’s secular citizenship. In other words, if you are a Christian, then the dictum would be: act as though Christianity is the absolute truth. There should be no disjuction between 1) you as a citizen of the world, and 2) you as an agent of god.

As far as kyopos fornicating on one day and then attending Bible study the next, that’s something else and something I agree completely with wjk on. These fake Christians disgust me too. Not because they are fake Christian of course, but because they are FAKE. If you’re going to profess a belief, a way of life or Christian lifestyle, then act accordingly.

50 thekorean November 11, 2008 at 10:56 am

Ok, now that I came back from work and saw the pics, I gotta say — those hangeul handwritings are FUCKING AWFUL. I want to strangle whoever wrote that. (Better not be Ms. Kim…)

51 WangKon936 November 11, 2008 at 11:36 am

thekorean, you homo… why wouldn’t you want to straddle Ms. Kim and put your hands around (some part of) her?

52 Robert Koehler November 11, 2008 at 11:38 am

Ok, now that I came back from work and saw the pics, I gotta say — those hangeul handwritings are FUCKING AWFUL. I want to strangle whoever wrote that.

Yes… but poorly written hangeul in a centerfold spread is better than no hangeul at all.

The Ministry of Culture has been telling us that hangeul would be at the forefront of the Korean Wave. Guess it’s been right.

As far as kyopos fornicating on one day and then attending Bible study the next, that’s something else and something I agree completely with wjk on. These fake Christians disgust me too.

I like ‘em. Kind of like Graham Greene for Catholics.

53 WangKon936 November 11, 2008 at 11:40 am

Uh, sorry. In this PC world we must not offend!

Sorry I said homo, I mean pu**y challenged… ;)

54 thekorean November 11, 2008 at 12:02 pm

Hey man, I respect my ladies. Strangle that beautiful creature? Heaven forbid. If Ms. Kim wrote that, she would only receive a gentle spank on the bottom from me…

55 KrZ November 11, 2008 at 12:04 pm

I’ve met some chicks who are into that. Kind of freaks you out the first time you are getting into it and she says, “Hit me in the face, call me a bitch.” Ahhh, bipolar, bulimic models, oh how I love thee.

56 hitest November 11, 2008 at 12:07 pm

Someonehas to tell these ladies to eat a sandwhich and put some time in on the stair master.

Starvation skinny is not sexy at all. It is different if a lady is thin because she is extremely cardio-active, but no muscle tone, no hips, no ass, no eating skinny just doesn’t do it.

57 Jewook November 11, 2008 at 1:31 pm

한혜진 or 최정원

There both are really tasty, but 한혜진 is flat chested and 최정원 boobs aren’t big enough. They both should get augmentation. Its times like this I miss Unee, she was freakin hot! And had a great pair of jugs. Who cares if they were fake, better fake than flat. Cause naturally big breasted Korean babes are too rare.

Sandra Oh? WTF!!!!!!!!

No amount of talent would ever make her beautiful.

58 Jewook November 11, 2008 at 1:40 pm

hitest

I totally get you. The latest Korean trend of starvation skinny or stick skinny really turns my stomach. A girl’s got to have a little meat on her to be yummy.

59 WangKon936 November 11, 2008 at 1:55 pm

I like 고아라 (Go Ah Ra). Tasty!

Is she legal yet?

60 hardyandtiny November 11, 2008 at 2:01 pm

Is Helen Kim a church name?

61 hardyandtiny November 11, 2008 at 2:06 pm

What about Gina Chae? What are common Japanese-American female names? Tara?

62 Robert Koehler November 11, 2008 at 2:08 pm

Again, for all you bitching about the skinny chicks, I refer to comment #7.

Rumor has it you can find quite a few torrents of their stuff, too. Rumors also has it the one with Diana & Darcy is quite good. But then again, I wouldn’t know.

63 Jewook November 11, 2008 at 3:42 pm

WangKon936

Sorry man, she’s 18. :( She won’t be legal for another two years by Korean law standards. Anyway how old are you? You better not be over 30! If you are, shame on you! :)

64 austin November 11, 2008 at 3:57 pm

No way does this girl have a Korean background.
If she was really Korean she’d have bush so thick you’d have to hack your way out.

65 Darth Babaganoosh November 11, 2008 at 7:28 pm

Bipolar: “Some of us civilized types prefer our lawns trimmed”

There’s a big difference between letting the jungle take over, trimming the lawn, and salting the earth it grows on. I can’t stand the first or third options, but the middle option is a nice compromise. It’s never represented in mags anymore, but it’s a nice compromise.

66 Bipolar Mindscrew November 11, 2008 at 9:24 pm

“salting the earth it grows on” – lol, exactly what I was driving at actually… I love the Korean euphemism for bush-hair (male and female) – “seaweed”

67 WangKon936 November 12, 2008 at 2:11 am

Age of consent in Korea is 20? Man, what a buzz kill. They certainly make her look older in the commercials!.. :(

In that case then Go Ah Ra is just a pretty little dong seng and I’d like to help her with her English pronouncation… :)
