Obama era.
I am trying to balance my fears with optimism.
For like a second I thought the Republicans were going to be gracious losers (I was shocked) but McCain’s nice speech was too good to be true. I am fine with watching as they chew their own legs off but they look like their trouble may leak into things that actually matter.
Can someone please decrypt comment #2?
#2 is for the lulz
After having shamelessly painted Barack Obama as being some kind of savior, I think most of the US media have put themselves in a position where they must continue to do pro-Obama reports and make excuses for his administration in order to justify their previous reports.
I predict there will be little objective reporting on the Obama administration over the next four years. I also predict that Fox News and other conservative media will gain a great many viewers.
‘블랙 오바마’ 화이트하우스를 삼키다
“Black Obama” takes the Whitehouse. Hmmm.
http://www.nownewstv.com/news/.....1107602001
#3 watch or read the news beyond the headline Obama Wins and you would see what’s going on in the Republican party. Maybe no one thinks that isn’t interesting on here but it is to everyone else.
Obama was elected three days ago and the entire universe has gone to shit.
It is all his fault!
Oh, and Gerry, Obama doesn’t have an administration yet.
Obama wins.
Iran’s Nazi, anti-American, nuke criminal sends Obama a congradulatory, private letter.
Obama wins.
North Korea expresses happiness.
Obama wins.
US Muslims are happier.
Obama wins.
I know a Mohammad who is a physician from Pakistan, who claims he’s on the Homeland security list, simply because his name is Mohammad. I don’t buy it. I have peers whose names are Mohammad. It’s like John for them. Even though he’s a US citizen and tenured physician, he’s on the list, rightfully so, because the United Kingdom has captured a couple with the exact same credentials who were caught red handed trying to hurt British citizens.
Obama wins.
Will the economy rebound?
Obama wins.
Will the US record of security under Bush be compromised?
Obama wins.
US blacks shed tears of joy over this half black man’s victory over the white man. Alan Keyes, full black man, ignored, because he’s a Republican.
Obama wins.
Powell was playing race favoritism. Own up to it.
Media bias: The mating call of the loser.
“‘블랙 오바마’ 화이트하우스를 삼키다
“Black Obama” takes the Whitehouse. Hmmm.”
Hmm? What’s so hard about it? Let me decipher it for you-
Barack Obama, an African American, is “swallowing” (or occupying or taking, whatever) the White House.
Does that clear things up for you, dear?
Bias is bemoaning imagined-future-failures before the man has even been sworn into office.
“Obama was elected three days ago and the entire universe has gone to shit.”
I know… check it out…

#7 I still don’t understand what you’re saying. You’re obviously stringing up together English words, but the end result is befuddling…
otoritakeo, I can read Korean. Swallowing the whitehouse makes no sense in English, so I kept the meaning and wrote that Obama took the whitehouse. And the headline doesn’t say Barack Obama (which is 버락 오바마 in Korean), but “Black Obama” (”블랙 오바마”) in inverted commas. The headline is supposed to be ironic about a black man taking the whitehouse.
Dat OK? The whole “I am kyopo and I an going to try and school the white guy” is getting tiring.
So is the gyopo-baiting.
Now, let me ask — is there something about the article you found of interest? Looks like a straight news blurb to me.
Robert, the article itself is normal. The headline I found interesting. Straight news blurb by Korean standards, but I still have seen any joking headlines in US papers about “black Obamas” in the “whitehouse”.
Nothing fresher than retrospect!
“Bush, 58, outlined about 15 domestic initiatives that he said would allow ‘Americans to earn a better living, support your family and have a rewarding career.’
“Some of Bush’s ideas lacked details, and he did not say how he would pay for them, but his proposals — some of them familiar — amounted to the most comprehensive listing yet of what Bush wants to do in a second term.
“Bush’s stated priorities include: simplifying the federal tax code, reducing federal regulations, revamping labor laws to allow for more flexibility, providing incentives for small businesses to provide health care…
“He also spoke of … promoting home ownership in the United States.” (2004)

http://www.failureisimpossible.....logans.htm
it’s critically necessary to have some honesty about what’s happening in the U.S. and what the next few years look like if everything doesn’t unwind completely. obama’s already delivered on this.
“#7 I still don’t understand what you’re saying. You’re obviously stringing up together English words, but the end result is befuddling…”
The Republicans are about to have a miniature civil war in the aftermath of utter defeat, conservatives vs. wingnut crazies. Is that clear-cut enough?
Hard to tell at so early a stage, but it’s certainly possible. And truthfully, I don’t think it would be such a bad thing.
“Hard to tell at so early a stage, but it’s certainly possible. And truthfully, I don’t think it would be such a bad thing.”
I would go so far as to say it’s the best possible outcome, both for the Republicans and for the country…just so long as the conservatives win. My vote tends to skew Democratic largely because of how much the present-day Republicans make my skin crawl. Two viable parties would be an excellent change of pace.
Clear-cut, I am not sure, but well formulated, indeed. A proper use of words, at least.
MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow is giving “butch dykes” a bad name.
I’m betting all the “O”s will be left on the White House keyboards.
Whatever;
Study: Coverage of McCain Much More Negative Than That of Obama
Media Bias Is Real, Finds UCLA Political Scientist
Richardson, ever considered that coverage of McCain was more negative because he was running a far worse campaign? If one car is gliding smoothly along and another smashes into a wall, guess which one gets the media attention?
Between the Palin selection and ’suspending his campaign to deal with the financial crisis’ and the increasingly negative, divisive tone of his supporters, it would have been very difficult to cast the McCain campaign’s final weeks in a positive light.
Strawman. It’s a measure of media organizations as well, and pre-dating this election;
If you don’t think that has an effect on the outcome or news reporting – both what is/is not reported and the tone/context of both – you’re head is in the sand.
This isn’t worth debating; just pointing out the fact.

2/ cnn reports major sports deals are underway to be completed BEFORE Obama takes office. Sale of the Chicago Cubs, contracts of NBA superstars, Manny Ramirez’s new contract, etc.
I’m just wondering why you so solemnly believe that taxing these people will actually work, and be enough money to fund all he wants, when it’s so clear they are the ones who are best at not paying.
3/ gay marriage. Approving gay marriage to me, is parallel to approving polygamy. A traditional, religiously sacred definition of a relationship is what it is. It’s giving in to sexual perversion and activism to promote it. Granted, polygamy was actually legal in the old book, but considering the theme that Abraham’s God demanded unilateral attention, it’s not terribly hard to see why St. Paul advocated monogamy. They’re not necessarily stopping at equal rights as married couples. They want to adopt children and teach kids that being gay is natural. Granted some of these kids are better off having Daddy and Daddy’s boyfriend as parents versus having none or bad ones, it still isn’t a normal family. They are also doing some queasy ethical things. The men will donate their sperm and have a genetic son from a real woman. Despite being gay. Women will give birth to a genetic child by your popular blaster or artificial insemination (much less likely, $$$). Despite being lesbian or gay, for the purpose of having genetic children, they are having them. All of which are at odds with that “faily tale story book”, the words of Abraham’s God.
I expect people like theKorean, bumfromkorea to be ardent gay right marriage advocates in less than 10 years from now.
Just don’t go around telling people you’re a Christian in the classic sense.
You’re decide for yourself that certain things aren’t that important.
A week ago, I correctly predicted the reaction of the Regano-Bushites in American, a microcosm being represented on this board.
1. Silence. Took them 24 hours to post much.
2. Shock! The world ending started.
3. Blame. It was all somebody else’s fault.
The fact is a clean majority of US voters, and it was one of the largest turnouts in history, rejected Regano-Bushism. The democratically voted for a new path for American.
It wasn’t the media. It was the voters. Heck, the Bushites even have their own network. America was ready for change and it will get it. There will be democratic opportunities to judge the record of the Obama administration every two years, but for now, he’s in the driver’s seat, baby.
No matter where the Regano-Bushites want to lay to blame, McSame ran an awful campaign. He was always on the defensive, always responding and never leading. At first he tried to say the economy was no a problem and in a move of pure theatrics ran off to Washington to save the world, a McSuperhero as it were.
And then there was Palin. She is a fruitcake. She should not have ever been let loose in public. The Curic interview was so bad it should have sent McSame the message that she was to be kept under armed guard. Finally, the Dems were brilliant the VP debate in not responding to much she said in order to keep her media profile. That is brilliant campaigning. And it worked, too.
Democracy has always been a pesky concept for the Regano-Buishites. But the people have spoken and rejected Regano-Bushism.
let’s not forget to mention that Dick Cheney’s daughter is one of these hypocrites.
but, Obama is also a strange Christian who advocates stem cell research.
Scientifically, it deserves thought for promotion. For the past 8 years, Europe has done very little with it, however.
well, wkj, you shouldn’t marry a gay person then.
X-D Actually, I’m an ardent gay marriage advocate right now. Good call on that though, wjk.
I just read a patent for an embryonic stem cell culturing/differentiation system that cured diabetes. Discovered in Korea of course, where christo-fascism isn’t eating away at innovation and education.
“After having shamelessly painted Barack Obama as being some kind of savior, I think most of the US media have put themselves in a position where they must continue to do pro-Obama reports and make excuses for his administration in order to justify their previous reports.”
The first I head about Obama’s comment about seances, it was “Barack apologizes to Nancy Reagan”.
If it were McCain, it would be “McCain insults Nancy Reagan” and MAYBE mention the apology later.
wjk said “Obama is also a strange Christian who advocates stem cell research.”
I know, he is also one of those strange lefty Christians who believes in the whosy whats-it effects of global warming and that the Earth revolves around the sun, not vice versa. A man like this is dangerous, next he may claim that photosynthesis and gravity actually exists. This will break all forms of reality us right wing Christians are used to. We all know those dinosaur bones that them there science people find in the ground were really placed there by Satan.
The reason you didn’t read about the remark until after the apology was made is that Obama phoned Nancy Reagan shortly afterwards.
Certainly, we can all now hope that Obama is on his knees praying to god to speak to him and tell him who should be in the cabinet. Last time I talked to god, he told me that Sponge Bob should be Secretary of the Treasury because he was a good worker and went to the same church as I do.
And of course, god will tell Obama the same thing. If he refuses to act upon His Word, he really is the Muslim Antichrist.
KRZ, can you throw up a journal citation or a link. Being type 1 I want me some stem cells.
Hasn’t been published yet. I was editing the translation. Given how long it takes to file and gain approval it could be quite some time before the patent is granted.
Did the successful procedure still require significant immunosuppression? Were the beta-cells differentiated in vitro or in vivo? Did Alpha cell Glucagon production resume to counter regulate? What was the life expectancy of the graft cells? Would 5 yearly repeat procedures be required?
Sounds interesting, while not a “cure” for NIDDM, there already is a cure in the form of exercise, healthy eating etc. It would be quite good for a cure for IDDM, not so much for me but for infants and adolescents who have a much greater problem with control.
Reaganism brought about the present day financial melt-down. He advocated
1) Small government: There was not enough regulators to check on CDOs and credit swaps.
2) Free trade: American jobs went south.
3) Almost no regulation on business : Banks went big way into buying CDOs.
4) Helping out big corporations: BearSterns, Liman brothers, AIG, etc.
It is time for the party of FDR to come back and renounce Reganism as he denounced Communism. “Mr. Bush, tear these lies down!”
It is back to 1930s. Obama and fellow Dems should
1)Strengthen progressive tax system: let the Rich pay more.
2)Create jobs: inject hugh liquidity into the market through public works projects.
3)Guarantee banks and mortgage.
4) Increase social security payment: Spend and spend way out of this deflationary environment.
It is the right time for the Dems to rescue the country from the ravages of Reaganism lies.
-Didn’t use any immunosuppression in the experiments. -In vitro differentiation.
-Didn’t say.
-Results indicated a gradual tapering off in blood glucose over a period of months, as opposed to a conventional-treatment group which all died in 2 weeks.
Reagan was the ultimate “free-spender”.
He gave tax cut to the Rich, which would have been more effective if he gave tax cut to the Middle class. He basically pumped the liquidity into the economy while increasing the national debt to astronomical figure.
Then, he lied about why it worked. Free trade, competitive business environment, etc. What he did was to increase the money supply.
Without noting the real reason for the economic boom, American public bought his propaganda about free economy.
Obama should do the same. Give hugh tax cut, to the Middle class this time, with no regard for the national debt. Just increase liquidity.
Just spend and spend.
After we get through this crisis, we can reign in the inflation through rasing the interest rates as Carter has done. Reagan blamed Carter for the bad economy but he was the beneficiary of Carter administration of extraordinary efforts to “right” the American economy. What a hypo, Reagan was.
Behind you 100% baduk
Me thinks someone is spoofing Baduk, badly.
OK. I voted for McCain because in the end, he was one of “mine” (A Vietnam Vet). But every time I heard one of those idiotic adverts from the extreme right or left, I wanted to vote for the other side. Glad I’m not in Obama’s shoes, because after the honeymoon is over, he is going to get sh*t on by those who expected the second coming of Christ. The only prophet I saw in all of this was Prince. Some of you might remember him. Back in the 80s he was predicting that the U.S. would become a “mulatto” nation, and he was right. Of course, that day is still a long way off, but the president we just elected is just that: An American! Half Black and half White, and he didn’t run as either. He ran as an American and we should at least give him a chance to bollocks things up on his own. Think I’ll go down to the library and see if they have “Purple Rain” in their DVD collection.
i think GM is going to swallow up Chrysler.
while, at the same time, both GM and Ford have no cash, and will both go bankrupt at the current rate.
Michigan governor has asked the feds to pay for the GM, Chrysler and Ford commitments to the retired UAW-AFL-CIO health and social benefit packages.
this portion has always been the Big 3’s biggest problem.
it will be interesting to see if this event is used to actually kill off those selfish unions and actually let the Big 3 get bought up by a foreign company who will refuse prior commitments.
Toyota, Honda can probably move all operations to Michigan and profit handsomely and operate well if this is the case. They’re already doing it south of Illinois, somewhere in Kentucky, Tennessee, etc, where UAW membership is barred.
Hyundai can also move up from Alabama.
Per the NY Times today:
Patriotism = Jingoism
Prove me wrong
So I guess they are still in the rat stage KRZ, because they tend to let human’s get the current gold standard instead of withholding treatment for control.
It would also be interesting to see how they initially knocked out the beta cells, if it was toxicity it still doesn’t account for the autoimmune component. If they used autoimmunity they must have been very patient and have improved our understanding of the self antigen- antigen – host response action. Either way very beneficial, but alas not for many years (my guess minimum of ten).
#51,
Depends how you define patriotism.
“Obama is also a strange Christian who advocates stem cell research.”
Not all Christians feel the need to put words in the mouth of God.
wjk,
You are sold on “Free trade” idea.
That is the Reaganism lie I was talking about.
Japan does not buy any of American goods. Why should we buy their cars without tariff?
This lie will surely bankrupt the US if it has not done it already.
Free trade has to be based on “Mutual” benefit. If it only makes the Japanese richer, I am against it.
You should be,too.
Automobile industry should be protected. Or, the Japanese have to buy Boeing airplains as if they need it or not.
Mutual benefit, baby. Mutual. Like in marriage.
Reagan gave 30 min speech in front of Japs and got $2 million.
That is equal to $4million in today’s dollars.
What did he do for Japs? Free-trade, maybe.
Talk about a hypo.
Yes, Obama should help out automabile industry. It is Americans who benefit.
I just hate those Reagan smart-aleks who like to see American auto industry bite the dust with smile on their faces. Who taught those ass-hos? It is nothing but selling out America.
Obama should immediately start a post-Sputnik like national program to develop electric cars. Just give billions and billions to colleges, labs and researchers.
We will beat the Japs and develop the first electric cars with reliable batteries.
Obama and Dems will do it. FDR for ever!!!!
Japan buys American goods. Nike, Coca cola, F-something raptors, hornets, beef, McDonald’s, microsoft, apple ipod, etc.
where in free trade is it mandated that if I buy your country’s car, you must buy mine?
besides, there is no free trade agreement between Japan and the US.
Korea may sell more Hyundais and buy less GM, Chyrsler, and Ford, but it will make up for it by buying beef, Nike, microsoft, blizzard software, pharmaceuticals, etc. Even services may be done by American companies, such as Bank of America doing your atm/lending business instead of Woori, etc.
just a side note, you folk who are proclaiming Obama to be a good “Christian”
1/ you don’t go to church on Sundays.
2/ you actually don’t even read their religious text.
3/ you are much closer to heathen humanism than any religious association.
thus, excuse me, if I scoff at your input.
I’ve only ever heard the claim of “Obama as the second coming” from the right. I’ve never heard the claim from someone who actually supports Obama.
Does anyone have evidence of “those who expected the second coming of Christ”? Every time I hear the claim, I think, “More unfounded negative campaigning.”
what you really want to say is,
Obama is the type of “Christian” you like.
On a sidenote, I have always found it immensely hypocritical of African American “clergymen” who advance their other objectives and undermine core principles.
Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Jeremiah Wright.
You do know Jesse Jackson was banging his secretary when Bill Clinton was asking “Reverend Jackson” for spiritual advice when the Monica Lewinsky affair broke out, right?
Alex,
It’s a figure of speech b/c he’s promised so much.
the same Jesse Jackson who wanted to call Barack’s balls off, and shed tears when Barack won the Presidency.
He was never any sort of “minister” in my measurements. He was using religion to do politics.
It would be a travesty if his son, Jesse Jackson, Jr, was allowed to be a US Senator of Illinois, to replace Obama. Jesse Jackson, Jr, would become a US Senator, without even having been elected.
call–>cut
From when did “selling out American industries” became patriotic?
Reagan spread the propaganda.
“Free trade” is similar to “Worker’s paradise”.
Lies.
Japan protects their industries like a hawk.
The Japanese are getting richer.
Time to deliver a shock to Reaganism. “Mr. Bush, tear the Free-trade lies to the ground.”
Japanese protectionism is causing their stagnant economic growth since the mid 1980s.
Free trade is not similar to Worker’s Paradise.
Worker’s Paradise failed.
Free trade won.
“i think GM is going to swallow up Chrysler.”
Wrong. The merger talks are off. GM is playing cash strapped so it can get another big chunk of corporate welfare gratis of the US taxpayers. GM has plenty of profitable product in its overseas operations that could be made in the USA easily.
However, it is better to get a couple of hundred billion in socialist of the ultra rich to get the ball rolling. That way Wagoner and Lutz can give themselves a big multi-million dollar bonus for “saving” the company.
wjk, I have spent a lot of time in Japan. They are not stagnant:
Year GDP – real growth rate
2003 -.30 %
2004 2.70 %
2005 2.90 %
2006 2.60 %
2007 2.20 %
2008 1.90 %
http://www.indexmundi.com/japa....._rate.html
When one considers Japan’s population is falling, real incomes are rising. Distribution of wealth is among the most equitable in the world. The economy is much more open that it used to be. The real issue is that America doesn’t produce much that Japanese want to buy.
But since you are a Regano-Bushite, I shouldn’t bother you with facts. Religious faith is what matters and only about 1% of Japanese are christians.
WJK, all of those products you mentioned except the military are made overseas. American companies profit but they are essentially countryless citizens as they are multinationals.
Nike=chinese jobs, Coke= jobs in south america for produce and prouction jobs in Japan, McDonalds= Same (and Oz beef!)
I don’t actually understand the argument in depth, but your examples are poor. Try again.
kimchipig: Those Japan GDP figures seem fairly stagnant compared to the high growth era, back when Japan was nearly the richest nation in the world.
“The Republicans are about to have a miniature civil war in the aftermath of utter defeat, conservatives vs. wingnut crazies.”
I think it’s about time the wingnut crazies formed their own party and left the Republican party to the conservatives. The wingnut crazies are not Repubs no matter how much they changed the direction of the party. Dems want to spend our money, (the old) Repubs want to protect it. Neither ever gave a shit about what God had to say.
Amen to that, if I may say so…
“Reagan gave 30 min speech in front of Japs and got $2 million.
That is equal to $4million in today’s dollars. What did he do for Japs?”
He gave them a speech.
inkevitch, in my crude understanding of things, in free trade they don’t care much about domestic production versus companies making a profit. GM has plants in China, making cars for the Chinese as well. The important fact is that cars are sold, not that they are MADE IN USA.
kimchipig, in my crude understanding of things, economic growth less than 5% per year, is essentially a bad thing. Unemployment rate is higher in Japan versus the US. You can check your numbers on that. Income disparity is higher in Japan versus the US. Or I heard. I’m not so certain about the numbers on that.
note to theKorean, hey, all your political friends are enemies of Jesus. How coincidental.
In this day and age, why do some morons still insist that the American President be a “good Christian”? That has absolutely no bearing on the ability to deal with the enormous complexities in the world today and hasn’t Bush already proven that being a “good Christian” might in fact be a hindrance?
dda, kimchipig, KrZ, someguyinKorea, Darth Babaganoosh,
would hesitate to let a day go by, without saying something hateful about Jesus.
why is that?
they are irreligious, that’s why.
GM has cars that people want to buy. They can’t turn a profit, because they are legally bound to pay its workers like the upper 10% of American citizens, even when they are retired. Their union members will be taught a lesson that they ruined the American auto industry, when China, Japan, India, or Korea buys its companies AFTER it is bankrupt, not like Germany, which foolishly bought Chrysler while it was still in business, honoring all those social packages.
by the way, when Obama refers to “spreading working standards” as a pre-condition to FTA, I wonder if he means these Big 3 auto worker standards. If he does, how utterly stupid he is !
As proof, automobile manufacturing south of Illinois is quite profitable in North America, for Toyota, Nissan, Honda, and Hyundai. As a rule, they all bar UAW membership. Automobile manufacturing in Michigan, in Indiana, and Northern Canada is in dire states. Plants are closing every year. They have UAW folk there.
Hyundai plants in Ulsan, South Korea have similar folk. If 2MB was smart, he would curb their influences. If Hyundai were ever to go bankrupt, it would be due to the Hyundai auto worker’s union, trying to live beyond their worth. I said it. BEYOND THEIR WORTH.
the world has limited resources. When you unionize to LIVE BEYOND YOUR WORTH, you are living off at someone else’s expense. That is selfish.
Maekchu, America always elected a Christian to office.
years ticking by, doesn’t mean that years gradually come off the ownership of God.
allow me to list Bush’s legacies.
1/ tax cuts. If this was so bad, why is Obama foaming at the mouth to continue it for 95% of America?
2/ homeland defense. Arguably, nobody in the US even worries about a plane going down anymore in domestic flights. People said Dept of Homeland Security was a Nazi Gestapo like organization, and it was a money deal to reward friends and use more govt money. I’m glad they arrested and deported the people they did. I’m glad they are checking bags and asking entrance questions. It is a smashing success.
3/ Gradeschool education. For the first time in decades, school teachers have been stressed to actually make kids pass exams.
4/ Appointment of Supreme Court justices. Liberal activist judges have been bypassing the will of the American people (the vote), enacting laws that were never legislated by the people (ex, gay marriage, by far and most approved thru the courts, not by votes, not by congressmen or senators, never by the President). Bush’s choice selections essentially will deter this for the next 30 years.
more to come.
Colleges Offering More Culture Enhancing Courses
Some challenging new courses at Korean universities:
I am surprised no university is offerring “Starcraft 101.”
Starcraft 101 is probably taught in 中1 anyway…
WJK, I could be wrong but a large portion of America’s current fiscal problems is related to unemployment and people unable to make payments on loans, defaulting and causing credit seizure, and being unable to purchase leisure items which largely drive an economy. Companies are symbiotic, they need the work force to have a healthy level of income. Your view seems to focus around company growth and success without seeing that the purpose of the a company is twofold, to provide a service/good and to provide gainful employment.
That said I am massively anti-union. As bad as corporations may be, unions have become even more self serving to the point that they get workers benefits that are not deserved or needed and result in making employment with local workers unprofitable leading to outsourcing of labour.
The construction industry in Oz is massively inefficient because of this, projects never come in ontime costing every body money. Although not a fan of minibush (John Howard) I was a fan of his work place relation reforms.
“just a side note, you folk who are proclaiming Obama to be a good “Christian”
1/ you don’t go to church on Sundays.
2/ you actually don’t even read their religious text.
3/ you are much closer to heathen humanism than any religious association.
thus, excuse me, if I scoff at your input.”
1) As if that makes someone a Christian. Ever heard of the saying “absent in mind, present in body”?
2) You’d be lucky to put your hands on some of the old texts my dad has in his library. I’ve had the pleasure of cracking open bibles that were centuries old.
3) Heathen? Gee, what’s this? The Spanish Inquisition? Just so you know, I don’t believe in polytheist, shamanism, or pantheism.
So, excuse me if I scoff back.
wjk,
Some Republicans believe the worth of laborers are “subsistance-level” of living.
The Rich folks of the R party insist that they somehow are born better than Michigan auto workers and they deserve more than subsistance living while they love to see UAW members suffer and lose jobs to the Japanese.
Reaganites believe they are born different. They hide behind the words like “productivity” and “competitiveness” but they do not practice neither.
They just wait for the big checks coming from the banks.
Hey, man, America is a team. When a part of the team sells out the other part, we all lose.
Reagan sold out America to Japan. And, told the people of America that that s the Right thing to do. “Teach these autoworkers to go back to the subsistance living where they came from.”
While taking bribes from the Japanese.
someguyinkorea,
1/ Going to church every week is one of the 10 commandments. Contrary to popular thought especially among young college US students who habitually skip church, you are sinning when you skip.
2/ what good is classic car that has a dead engine? Can you at least admit you don’t read it? I can buy a textbook. I don’t read it. What good is it to my brain?
Reagen sold US jobs to Japan?
I don’t think it’s true.
I don’t think you’re making sense.
As far as I know, Reagen didn’t do anything for the Japanese to let them sell stuff any easier or do anything to actively outsource jobs.
I’m gonna get a lot of hate for this, but this financial melt down’s blame goes to the renters who bought houses they couldn’t afford.
These are the same people who form unions, and try to live beyond their worth at the expense of others. Oz land citizen above describes it perfectly. It’s as if the gasoline companies banded together and stuck to $5.00 a gallon, and you can’t do shit about it.(a popular false belief, by the way. Recent gasoline prices hovering below $2.50 in the US should confirm this)
the American consumer rejected the American automobile.
That’s where the blame goes.
the American worker demanded too much, and got blind sided by cheaper alternatives abroad.
that’s where the blame goes.
Now, the only solution for Michigan is for Big 3 to declare bankruptcy, and thus legally cancel all social programs funded my auto companies.
then, the Japanese, Chinese, Indians, British, Germans, or even Hyundai will come in and take advantage of the infrastructure and profit handsomely, while ignoring all these GM healthcare, GM employee pension plans.
I foresee a Daewoo Motors parallel in America.
unless, President Obama decides to bail out Michigan with govt money.
Clinton already did it. German Daimler-Benz already did it.
they have to cancel these employee pension and healthcare plans.
it’s been about 10 years, and we are back to the same crap.
everyone says US has no universal healthcare, but that’s a lie.
US covers everyone from age zero to age 18 and 21 in some states, and anyone from age 65 and over.
In between, the theory is you’re making more money than other countries, due to lower tax, and thus you should be spending that on healthcare, while also spending on tv, food, music, books, extra car, gold chain, gold watch, clothes, etc.
the whole idea behind Bush’s heatlh savings account.
but, America voted so that the govt will take the rich people’s money and provide it for FREE.
not yet done successfully in any country yet. Would require a broader tax base than that.
since what happened took place, I support socializing medicine in America.
however, let’s see if it
1/ happens at all.
2/ I am proven right with the steep middle class tax hike.
There is no point arguing with a religious fanatic, but WJK, you are flat wrong on this:
“Unemployment rate is higher in Japan versus the US”
Completely false. Japan’s unemployment rate is 4% as of September, 2008.
http://www.economicnews.ca/cep.....cle/151778
In October 2005, the unemployment rate in the USA was 6.5%, the highest in thirty years and more than 50% higher than in Japan.
http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.nr0.htm
In short, get your facts straight. The fantasy land you GOP types blather is the problems the USA has.
On another false statement
“kimchipig, in my crude understanding of things, economic growth less than 5% per year, is essentially a bad thing.”
Pretty crude indeed. By your own statement, the USA has woefully failed under the Bush Administration:
Year GDP – real growth
2003 2.45 %
2004 3.10 %
2005 4.40 %
2006 3.20 %
2007 3.20 %
http://www.indexmundi.com/unit....._rate.html
US economic growth is expected to be -0.8% in 2008
:I’m gonna get a lot of hate for this, but this financial melt down’s blame goes to the renters who bought houses they couldn’t afford”
These people should have never been lent money in the first place. Perhaps it is a no brainer here in Bolshevik Canuckistan, but you don’t lend money to people with bad credit and/or no jobs. It was the deregulation of the financial industry that allowed this. This and all the nonsense that went on in the derivatives market. The economy in your country is VERY sick and no amount of prayer of faith is gonna change that.
“the American consumer rejected the American automobile.”
I am old enough to remember 1973. American made over priced over sized POS cars then and it still does now. The great Mavens at the Big Three (there is an oxymoron) refused to change with the market, still made monsters with fat profits and gave up huge chunks of market share to the Japanese makes. And now they, multi-millionaires like Wagoner and Lutz are looking for corporate welfare courtesy of the US taxpayer. Then they can give themselves another $50m bonus EACH!
“1/ Going to church every week is one of the 10 commandments. Contrary to popular thought especially among young college US students who habitually skip church, you are sinning when you skip.”
Church is for superstitious fools and having god run your country was rejected on November 4. I would never set foot in one of those places. I would rather worship a tea cozy. At least it is real.
Now, sir, check your facts before you write. This kind of nonsense is what the voters in the USA rejected on Nov 4.
Baduk,
I’d recommend you read a little about comparative advantage before discussing trade issues.
“As far as I know, Reagen didn’t do anything for the Japanese to let them sell stuff any easier or do anything to actively outsource jobs.”
Have you heard of automobile quota set up on Japanese cars?
In 1985, the United States sold $190 million worth of car parts to Japan (not much different from the amount negotiated five years earlier), while Japan exported a whopping $5.2 billion worth of Japanese parts to the United States.
http://www.umass.edu/economics.....005-16.pdf
Wealth of a nation should be protected. However, Reaganomics junkies have no idea. Their mantra is “free trade”.
Japan buys nearly nothing of what America makes. It is no free trade. It is stealing of the America’s wealth.
Abandon “free trade” before it is too late.
“Free trade” does not work in the real world as Communism did not work in real world.
Japan always protected its industries while the US has not.
Wonder why the national debt keeps increasing?
Before Reagan became the president, American people wanted Japanese imports to be limited in number.
People knew Japan is stealing America’s wealth.
They elected Reagan to do something about it.
Reagan pretended he was doing something but did nothing in real terms. He kept giving money to the Japanese.
Meanwhile, Reaganomics advocates appeared and taught young people that it was good thing that American car companies lose to Japanese companies.
How can it be a good thing when American companies lose when the Japanese companies, which are fully supported by its government, win?
Free trade does not work. Ever since Reagan, America lived on debt, borrowing from Japan and now China. Reagan not only made this lie but also sold it to young people.
National wealth has to be protected. Reagan sold out America.
If Reagan and the Republicans are really for “competitiveness” and “efficiency”, then shouldn’t they welcome Mexican illegals? They provide cheap(=efficient in terms of cost) labor and wins out in free competition?
Reaganomics junkies should also be pro-illegal aliens. However, I never seen one. Then, for companies you adopt free competition and not for individuals? Contradiction!
The Republicans and Reagan singled out American auto manufacturers because they are Dems. It has nothing to do with “free competition”.
Meanwhile, Reagan fattened his own, not even Republicans, wealth. Reagan may have been the worst president in American history.
Reagan divide America. And, also succeeded in selling his weird idea of “selling out America” as economic justice.
Republicans frequently help out other corporations but junks Automobile corporations.
Reagan was a very devious person. Lying all the time about “balancing the budget through trickle-down”.
His Hollywood charm still works, even today. He was a master of “spin”. American public loved him and still loves his Reaganism while nation wealth is leaking out faster than air from a ruptured balloon.
Abandon free trade and save some wealth before the whole country goes into a poor house.
dda, is there a simple way to modify the no wjk script into a no baduk script?

just a side note, you folk who are proclaiming Obama to be a good “Christian”
1/ you don’t go to church on Sundays.
2/ you actually don’t even read their religious text.
3/ you are much closer to heathen humanism than any religious association.
thus, excuse me, if I scoff at your input.”
1. Prove to me I do not go to church on Sundays
2. Prove to me I do not read the Bible
3. If you ever read Christs words to begin with you would realize that he was not a Grand Ole’ Party pin-up and actually woiuld be considered a “Hippie” by your standards.
I’ll do 1. and 2.
1/ tell me how often communion is held in the Catholic church, or the Korean Presbyterian church. If you go to neither of above, describe to me how you were baptized. Rough description is good enough.
2/ A/ true or false. There is guy named Heman in the Bible. Don’t use the web.
B/ All the 12 disciples were unmarried, true or false. If false, name one who was married.
C/ Absalom and Reuben have what in common?
D/ Sarah was how old when she gave birth to whom? Is this scientifically explainable? If not, what is required to explain this? Who was genetically born in Abraham’s blood line, prior to Sarah’s child?
Should be able to answer all in one word answer, except maybe C.
WJK, that said companies going into receivership and taking retirement funds should be prosecuted, or the directors at least. Because these funds are made of employee contributions and it is tantamount to stealing. The point of these funds is to counteract the wave of babyboomer retirees that will be requiring welfare and free healthcare. I am suprised that the companies were allowed to control, abuse and lose these peoples retirement funds? Why is there not a superannuation system where you can have say over which fund manages your account and where you want your superannuation invested?
By the by Baduk, part of the problem of American car companies is that they were overprotected and they did not improve their design philosophy and they still make cars that are inferior to Japanese and European models. The engines are inefficient and they have not developed past adding some alloy to their old pushrod V8. They still use antiquated suspension set ups. American cars are essentially undivable anywhere that petrol costs more than $1/L or that has roads that turn and corner.
Wjk, I realize now that I should have listened to Iheartblueballs when it comes to dealing with you. But since I was made the unfortunate mistake of ever responding to anything you ever written I must thus follow up. To answer your #1, I do not care what Catholic or Korean Presbyterians do because I’m neither. I happen to have been reaised Pentacostal. The fact that you narrowed all options down to only two sais something about your enclosed perception of reality. To answer your question, Communion is not as sacred to protestant Pentacostals as it is with ceremonial Catholics. We tend to not have a good excuse to get a buzz in church, plus stale crackers are the lulz. I belive you said in order 1/,2/,B/C/D/, nuff said about that. And for the rhetoric about Sarah, ask Hagar how she felt for being kicked out of camp with a newborn baby.
you can still answer the question. I am fully aware of what AG Pentacostals do during communion.
since you claim to be a Pentacostal, and I know very well what they do, what is the phrase you use in the time of ministry?
“we will ask _____ _____ to come.”
should be easy as pie. Unless you are lying.
I didn’t narrow it. I kept it open.
it’s 1, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d.
you surely have seen grade school teachers who have given you quizzes with worser formats, right?
Hagar’s son was able to walk on his own. He was no new born baby by that time.

I think protection of the industry is to blame but I also think that if environmental standards were kept in line with global trends it would help the industry more than hurt it. If gas prices were kept as high as they are in Europe and Korea, US companies would be making more fuel efficient cars, likely with smaller displacements, thereby negating Korea’s supposedly protectionist engine-displacement based taxes. I’m not saying taxing the crap out of gas is necessarily good, but it seems to have led US auto manufacturers away from the global trend, making them less exportable. If the entire world is forcing unnecessary increases in environmental friendless on their economies, that doesn’t necessarily make rejecting this trend the best choice in view of long-term export potential.
Krz, but it is the Californian emission laws that have driven engine emission change. But part of the problem is that they made great catalytic converters and clean burning engines without little thought to how much goes in. Also “trucks” are not subjected to this and they are a huge part of the American motor market.
Expect to see more Australian utes kicking round as pontiacs and Fords, at least for a couple of years because GM and Ford are shutting down their Australian design houses. Looks like we will be getting that woeful Taurus soon. The funny thing is American car designers make some brilliant cars, many European car companies have design houses in California and Michigan. So why (apart from a few recent Chrysler designs) do they insist on rehashing the old crap?
Excuse me for indicating that a small child very well be considered a new born baby in the context of irony that I posted in, again sorry you did not get it. And Communion like I said is NOT as sacred in protestant churches as I stated prior. I never said it does not happen. As far as this thing you posted “we will ask _____ _____ to come.
should be easy as pie. Unless you are lying.” I am soo tempted to insert Spaghetti Monster but I will not.
not every week, but happens with a certain regularity.
you didn’t answer most of the questions, but instead hinted that you already know all of this.
either you actually do, or you don’t know, and are talking around it.
the answer is Holy Spirit. Spaghetti Monster? Not sure if that is meant to be a joke, innocent humor, a reflection that you rejected the church, or something else.
hey, you asked me to cross exam you. And you refused to participate.
You can still be liberal and be Christian. Not a strong one, though. A weak one. You can be a weak Christian and vote for the Democrats. A lot of Korean Americans.
Wjk, in every American Pentacostal church I have been to and every service I have attended since a childhood I have never heard the congregation be forced to utter the words “We will ask the Holy Spirit to come”. You seem to have a very limited perception of things which have not affected you. Maybe in Korean Pentacostal churches they say such things. But i’m not Korean, and yes there is a world outside the cave.
I will pray every day to his noddlieness that wjk will accept the Flying Spaghetti Monster into his life, and partake of the marinara sauce representing his lifeblood. ;_;
that’s what they do in AG Pentecostal churches.
you assume I haven’t been there.
I’ve been to a predominantly white one, and a predominantly Korean one.
They say the same thing.
you assume I live in a cave.
KrZ, what you are doing is deeply, selectively offensive. It’s really no different than saying racial slurs.
what KrZ is doing is a white tradition.

Your crying just makes my penis harder
considering I am a heterosexual male,
and you mentioned you wanted to use my tears as lube to masturbate,
and you swear you’re having an erection right now,
are you a homosexual God hater?
there is something wrong with that.
I know some comedian popularized, “not that there is anything wrong with that”, but I don’t care to say things like that.
that monster looks like a male sexual organ.
how appropriate that white people are doing this.
it’s like genetically inbred into them.
look, when it comes time that some activist judge says haggling Christians is a hate crime, then and only then people like you will stop doing this.
Wjk, you do realize that Jesus hung around with sluts and embraced outcasts including homosexuals and all sorts of “deviants” don’t you?
No different from being racist? Nonsense. One chooses his false and simpleton beliefs about Universe. One doesn’t choose his race.
And what is the deal with being a “weak Christian” anyway? I too dislike them. It’s like being half-retarded or like shitting only half way and snipping at the midpoint every time you’re releasing a turd.
I’m glad Christianity is making its exit and becoming more and more irrelevant as the world becomes more enlightened. Which is really no different from saying that Christainity is becoiming like all those other religions that Christians don’t care about. Human beings shouldn’t care so deeply about refuted literature.
Jesus embraced “repentant” sinners. Read it again, if you want.
not vocal, hateful, unrepentant Herods.
Well, I know who looks hateful here.
“someguyinkorea,

1) No. Far from it. From memory, it says something about keeping the Sabbath holy by not doing any work.
2) See #1.
#112,
They only became repentant after he had hung out with them…So, Acropolis7 was right.
“dda, kimchipig, KrZ, someguyinKorea, Darth Babaganoosh,
would hesitate to let a day go by, without saying something hateful about Jesus.
why is that? they are irreligious, that’s why”
I find it funny, wjk, that you think you know who and what I believe in. Irreligious, really? You have proof of that, right? Or does your definition of irreligious only take the Christian God into account?
God has no business in politics. God has no business in government. God is a PERSONAL relationship/belief between you and Him. YOUR belief in God has absolutely no relation to MY belief in God, nor should it. You believe what you wish to believe, I believe what I wish to believe. That’s the beauty of Freedom of Religion. Unfortunately, many Christians forget that people are allowed to believe in gods other than the Christian God (or believe in no God at all). Again, that’s the beauty of Freedom of Religion.
You know nothing about my religious beliefs. They are simply none of your damned business who or what I worship. Either way, it has no business in government or politics.
Funny, I was just thinking the same thing. I’ll be just a minute…
noBaduk.user.js
Wouldn’t have seen that but for Babaganoosh.
Beg pardon, Guvnor? Not that I am religious — I am a proud atheist. BUT, my atheism is purely for private consumption. I am not a proselyte, and never bother anyone with my ideas. Which can not be said for a bunch of religious doodoos on this list and elsewhere.
