Han Chae-young and the Kiwis

in Korean Tabloid Crap

The Chosun Ilbo reports — with video — on Korean actress Han Chae-young’s starting role in Kiwi director Scott Reynolds ‘ upcoming film “Soul Mates”:

Reynolds said, “New Zealanders love Korean movies. For example, ‘A Tale of Two Sisters’ by Kim Jee-woon was very popular. Han, who combines the beauty of both East and West, is a perfect fit for this movie.

I guess “combines beauty of both East and West” is code for “has big boobs.”

Hmmm….well, seeing as I’m involved with setting the upcoming Korean film festival here in NZ, it can’t hurt to be first one in on this. I appreciate the sentiment, but I think Ms. Han’s definition of “very popular” is a bit different from my own (translator’s hyperbole?). Yes, there is a small fan base for Korean film, and Old Boy does have a cult following, but a key site of the Korean Wave we’re not…. But there are a lot of things going on between studios in Korea and NZ at least, and parts of Old Boy itself, Silmido, A Bungee Jump of their Own and Antarctic Journey were filmed here, and Weta Workshop was involved in designing the monster for The Host. Nice to see this co-production too.

I’d heard she married some rich guy and retired, so this is great news.

Yeah, she’s a great fit…”I don’t just mean her physical qualities.” Sure, sure :)

“combines beauty of both East and West”…this means she has had double eyelid, calf-reduction, ass implants and breast augmentation surgery ;)

Wow. She gained a couple of cups sizes since I last saw a picture of her. But she’s never had plastic surgery, right?

Someone who went to high school with her told me that she’s had a boob job–not that that’s not obvious.

Wait, will this get me in trouble for violating the Choi Jinsin law if I am in Korea next time? (Truth is no defense to the charge of defamation in Korea, after all).

… not to mention that pointy nose and those big eyes…

… yes, supposedly no plastic surgery…

# 1,

I think part of the puff has to do w/perhaps NZ wanting to establish some relationship with SK’s movie industry and other economic interests… not that NZ is really the land of Korean moviephiles…

Forget the boobs (ok… don’t) – how about the growth hormones? How tall is she?

American beef does a body good… ;)

Rachel Kim (aka Han Chae-young) is a native Chicagoan.

Did you really have to hyperlink “Chicagoan”? At least post up a page more specific to the point of the topic or your post.

Anyway, I don’t know whether HCY had a boob job, but as a matter of fact one can’t use pictures for evidence. She had big boobs since 2000 judging by stills of a movie she did. Also, photos in which she appears to be dead flat are contraverted by photos from the same shoot that reveal how much angle, pose, and posture do a lot to hide the real enormity of her boobage.

Too bad she got all that other plastic surgery, though. She was a really pretty girl when she first came out.

Why all this speculation over whether she has had cosmetic surgery. Who gives a crap! She’s a big boobed hottie, that’s all that matters.

I think it’s actually a good thing Rachel went to Korea to seek an acting and modeling career. In this particular situation, the opportunities are actually better in Asia.

HCY claiming to not have gotten breast surgery is on par with Michael Jackson’s denials.

There are before and after pics I’ve seen over and over. You dont just grow tits, several cup sizes at that, way past your puberty. If that’s the case, when is my dick gonna reach it’s full potential and grow to 12 inches?

Good question. Check with wjk on that — he’s the expert on that sort of thing.

One can use pictures for evidence. Not even a burka would completely obscure D-cups on a lanky woman. I’ve only seen one image like what you described, in which someone Photoshopped some arrows and lines to show a supposed shape under the shirt. Actresses like Lindsey Lohan, Pamela Anderson, and Jenny McCarthy have changed sizes (implants don’t usually last more than five years), and it’s possible that HCY has done the same, which would explain why she looks flatter in some photos and bustier in others. She was an adult by 2000, old enough to have had cosmetic surgery. I’ve only ever met one slender ethnic Korean woman with a natural D-cup, and she wasn’t super skinny; she had a rounded tummy. When estrogen amply endows a woman’s chest, it deposits some fat elsewhere, too, either the bottom and the thighs or the belly. HCY has publicly denied having any work done, and like Kim Kardashian, she could easily silence her critics and delight her fans by releasing a few teenage beach photos unless…

Anyone who went to school with her at Glenbrook South (class of 95-98) care to chime in about the boob job allegations?

Better yet, provide pics to yearbook pictures???

Sonagi,

Photographic evidence (“before & after” .jpgs) wouldn’t count because it doesn’t back the chronological reasoning that uses it for support.

I’ve seen those b&a photos too. The side where she seems flatter and skinnier than a telephone poll is taken from 2003. Guess what? Photos from the same shoot reveal how rather bustlucious she is. The nature of her frame does well to hide her flesh depending on the clothes and posture, I suppose.

Your argument, Sonagi, doesn’t work well either. HCY was in a low budget Korean movie that was released in 2000. She’s not skinny there. She’s rather well proportioned, not the ectormorphic, top-heavy stick one envisions when one thinks of her now.

Her boobs fluctuate. My conclusion. They appear more visible in some photos than others. In one photo, her boobs are 3-d. In others she appears to be as fleshy as I am (hey, I’ve got a pair of sporty, muscular man boobs that I am growing proud of). This fluctuation continues even now where she seems to be stick in some clothes and then ready for the milk factory in others.

BTW, the first pair of breasts I had ever saw with my own eyes (I was 10 at the time) was a Korean woman’s — a true MILF, my friend’s mother, and my mother’s friend. One night at a dinner party, I was snooping around passing a hallway after using the bathroom and lo and behold what I saw was a damn luscious pair of Korean breasts. This slender woman indeed had no rounded tummy, no ahjumaisms, that’s for sure.

Oh, and, who cares? I really need to find a hobby.

18 abcdefg October 18, 2008 at 4:27 pm

Add: The woman in my anecdote above was changing clothes, the dinner party was at her house, and her bedroom door was not fully shut.

There. Now I make sense.

I like ooyoo…
