Now THAT’S a Stupid Foreigner Trick

Fortunately, I know of no act of foreign jackassery in Korea that even begins to approach this… yet:

The reaction of the Japanese police is just as priceless. Where’s Super Garbage Man when you need him?

I would have run too with a fat nude 50 year-old pom chasing me.

haha… you’d expect a Korean to do that in protest of Dokdo or something… maybe even piss in the pond too…

    But some white guy?

    One word: taser.

Don’t blame the Japanese police for running away from what seems to be The Blob.

Is that place just a tourist attraction, or has this guy done the Japanese equivalent of crapping on the Lincoln Memorial?

I saw this this morning. And I thought MY first trip to Tokyo was crazy.

Thanks, Hamel! That one wasn’t in the “Imperial Guard Handbook of Uncomfortable Situations,” hence the complete Keystone Kop reaction.

    #5,

A kick to the groin would have been equally effective. It’s not as if the target was hidden from view.

Lucky fellow, it’s not the cops he should be worried about. Have you seen the size of the denizens of the mote? He is lucky he did not loose part of his wedding tackle.

As this is a stupid foreigner trick thread, does anybody else get an advertising link for the Byuntee (변티?) apparent waeguk-designed hangeul t-shirt vendor at the top of this blog?

Everyone should — I put it there.

The vendor is still building his site, though.

I’m doubting the morning talk shows in Korea would find something similar similarly humourous.

BumfromKorea - On the scale this is closer to the Lincoln Memorial than a college prank at a tourist trap. The Japanese Emperor lives inside the palace and even though Japanese no longer believe he is a deity this is probably the same as someone streaking the Capital Building in D.C. A lot of us would laugh but many would be upset.

As for Marmot’s comment on when a prank like this would show up in Korea I feel that the Koreans have a lower tolerance for stupid foreigner tricks as they do in Japan. One is more likely to get their ass beat down even if they do what some of our morons consider their birthright (standing on taxi cabs, grabbing your girlfriends or some random woman’s ass on the subway, etc, etc). This potential ass beating quotient that resides out here keeps the stupidity down.

Well, that said, it seems most people — the linked newspaper article not included — took the spate of foreign jackasses running out onto baseball fields this summer with a sense of humor:

Of course, the situation might be different if somebody streaked Cheong Wa Dae.

Does anyone have a link to the footage of last week’s Armed Forces Day parade in Teheran-ro? Apparently there was a naked local there who jumped out in front of a military vehicle, carrying a fake/toy gun of some kind. Links, PLEASE?

I cook good food and have great teeth. Regarding ’sexual peccadilloes’ that’s not something I’m familiar with as I’m certainly not a tory.

[...] Security: The North Korean military are now taking a softly softly approach after what happened at Geumgangsan and mostly just look on from a distance.  At each site the South Korean tour guides form a perimeter as the tour buses arrive and ensure that nobody wanders off in the wrong direction. The North Korean guides within the groups don’t seem to be armed and i didn’t see the military personel holding guns (they were just mostly in hostlers or thrown over their shoulders).  I felt very comfortable at all times but its still not a good idea to try anything like this there.
