Seems LMB is uncomfortable with receiving wartime operational command from the United States by 2012:
President Lee Myung-bak appears to be having second thoughts over reclaiming wartime operational control of South Korean forces from the United States by 2012, according to indications from the 100-policy goals the conservative administration finalized Tuesday.
Cheong Wa Dae said, “The Lee administration is determined to reevaluate and complement a 2006 bilateral agreement calling for South Korea to reclaim wartime operational control of its forces from the United States by 2012.”
This was always going to be the problem with Korea-US relations in the era LMB — because LMB is “pro-American,” the temptation is there to maintain the status-quo in the alliance rather than do what must be done.
