Korea Considering Sending Warship to Somali Coast

by Robert Koehler on October 7, 2008

During a parliamentary inspection session today, Foreign Minister Yu Myung-hwan said the government was discussing whether to send a warship to the waters off the Somali coast.

Good.

Yu also said the government was in negotiations to free 21 crewmembers (including eight Koreans) of a captured South Korean freighter, and that a resolution would come soon.

Does that mean another large cash payment and the claims of success?

It’ll get the public’s mind off the Korean Gov’t's limp dick performance visa vis China in the seas off the west coast.

I have had other things on my plate and have not really been paying attention but…

…were their minds ever really on that?

It’s time to bring back privateering! Get Samsung to bankroll a few adjummas afloat and the oceans will be safe from pirates once again!

You’d think the major navies of the world, and even the not-so-major, could use this as a modern-day live-training exercise that would rid the world of people who are detrimental to humanity.

It could go hand-in-hand with a humanitarian mission, too. My word, guns and butter….

If you send warships to Africa, who will protect Dokdo from those dastardly Wa Pirates?!?!?

#2,

Probably. In usual fashion, the Korean government appears to be reacting to public opinion after having failed to anticipate it.

Yeah after seeing what happened to Chinese fishermen, and the way Korea just rolls over and pays whatever ransom, I bet the Somali pirates a quaking in their boots.

Should we start a pool as to how long until we hear of Korean saliors kept hostage?

Lets not forget the prowess of admiral Leesungshin in one of the world’s greatest naval victories.
There is nothing pussy about the way Korea conducts itself militarily, just that the government tries to follow international practice.
Unlike our country now, which act as if it is not constrained by such international law.
Well no more from February, no siree.
Obama will return balance to the force.

The October Surprise has not yet come, kerplunk. McCain will win. He knows the ways of the Force. He’s been trained to use the Dark Side. The Dark Side surrounds him.

Oh, I didn’t know that.
Guess we’re fucked then.

Still, I look forward to the October Surprise.
