Well, this would be interesting, if true:
A lawmaker of the ruling Grand National Party stated that the decision to resume imports of U.S. beef regardless of the cattle’s age was made during the Roh Moo-hyun administration last year.
Rep. Hong Jung-wook, a member of a special parliamentary committee probing the controversial beef deal, disclosed Monday a document relating the results of a Nov. 17 meeting between then-Prime Minister Han Duck-soo and related ministers.
The document Hong received from the Prime Minister’s Office states that it was concluded at the meeting to fully accept the OIE standards once the United States implemented recommendations by the international organization for animal disease control.
The OIE recommendations refer to adopting stricter measures on animal feed.
The OIE standards include the importing of all parts of a cow except for special risk material for bovine spongiform encephalopathy, according to the Agriculture Ministry.
From the unlinkable Korea Herald.
The Democratic Party denied the claim, saying the “hypothetical conclusion” was never implemented during the Roh administration.
According to the report, the document also said the trade minister would “informally let his US counterpart learn about such conclusions reached by Seoul.”
To be fair, even IF Roh and Co. did OK US beef regardless of age, only for the Democratic Party to throw a shit fit this year when President Lee did the same thing, their flip-flopping on the issue would put them in pretty good company.

If it wasn’t Roh then it was the boogeyman.
Roh and the left wing knew once Roh was out of office the liberals would lose office and power and from there you can see their systematic way of setting up future problems.
I don’t know..sounds like both Roh and LMB want to get ROK-US FTA going..so the path to achieve the objective is same….but what a mess at the end!!!

@2, ROH does not want the FTA unless farmers and the chaebol’s markets in S.Korea are well protected. The left wing’s main backers are these retards including Hyundai workers.
Problem for him is that Bush couldn’t get it passed congress. Now that LMB is in office we’re most likely going to see renegotiations in the FTA.
So yes you are right both want the FTA under different conditions.
“The Democratic Party denied the claim, saying the “hypothetical conclusion” was never implemented during the Roh administration.”
They can deny it because…well…Roh brought all his records with him when he left office.
I was disgusted by the news reports on this. The issue degenerated into the typical politico shouting match with the opposition parties claiming the Lee administration was distorting the documentation. The opportunistic posturing and mutual villification goes on.
