Shanghai: City of Subway Lesbians

Dokkaebi News reports that an online video of two lesbians making out on a Shanghai subway has Chinese society in an uproar.

We are pretty sure one of the two in the video is a woman. The other one appears to be a woman, but we’re not sure. At any rate, the two go at it pretty hot and heavy for about two minutes of the 3 minute, 40 second video. The Shanghaiist has the actual video — watch it with someone you love.

Many netizens and intellectuals who watched the video were repulsed, and are calling for the enactment of laws to punish such public behavior. They also believe the distribution of the video — which is apparently now all over the Chinese Internet — is even more inappropriate.

Other netizens, however, say that while the two girls may have gone against social ethics, it’s shouldn’t be a legally actionable offense.

Then there’s people like me, who think Shanghai City Hall should subsidize lesbians to make out in the subway.

One netizen, who claims to have been the first to upload the video, said he was originally secretly filming hot girls in the subway and captured the lesbian footage by chance. In fact, the video is shaky, and the filmer doesn’t appear to notice when the two girls get off (the subway, that is).

Other netizens, however, believe the video was staged, pointing to actions by one of the girls suggesting she was aware of the camera.

At any rate, the Chinese seem to have a talent for public sapphism. Which would seem to suggest the Middle Kingdom isn’t such a shitty country after all.

Here in Korea in April, two guys were videoed blowing each other on Subway Line 5, causing quite the scandal. The guy who uploaded the film, however, told police (after he was arrested) that he made the video in order to attract investors for a gay film he wanted to produce.

Hey, lesbians boosted Howard Stern’s ratings, maybe they can work for Shanghai too.

The “girl” in white could be a skinny guy, no? Wonadem rocker types.

And I agree it looks staged. Maybe they’re from some underground lesbian society in Shanghai. Their Rosa Parks.

No self-respecting intellectual would be repulsed by such banality.

1.That was totally staged because the girl in black acted as if she wasn’t into it, which a true lesbian wouldn’t act like to a lover.

2.They were too much in line with the camera (especially the girl in dressed in black).

    3. No way they would do it so out in the open knowing they would be persecuted for being lesbians if they were “true lesbians”.

The only true Lesbians are both female and male inhabitants of the Greek island of lesbos.

Granted there may be some residents who fit into the category of Female Homosexual but Chinese Female Homosexuals should not be labeled Lesbians.

I often go the transit with my niece and nephew, both elementary grade. It’d be neat for a change sitting across from such a doll (open those legs) instead of eating ice cream at Baskin Robbins.
