Just when the mad cow rumors have mostly finished, we have another “rumor”, according to the Chosun Ilbo:
Rumor has it that a 17-year-old female North Korean soldier was among those who shot at a South Korean tourist at Mt. Kumgang resort two weeks ago. The rumor surfaced in a consultative meeting of the ruling Grand National Party and the government on Sunday.A participant in the meeting was quoted by another as saying Park Wang-ja (53) walked past two North Korean guard posts. Upon seeing Park, the 17-year-old female soldier standing guard at the second guard post fired a warning shot. Other soldiers at the first guard post also fired shots at Park, who was running away.
Participants were unable to confirm the rumor and dropped the subject.
If it smells and looks like dung . . .

I think “rumor” is the wrong word. This looks like deliberate disinformation by the North Koreans.
A young female soldier… It’s probably a ruse. Question is, who’s trying to defuse the Korean public’s anger with such a rumor?
#4, the Chosun article is interesting for an idea of what groups are willing to fall for this (likely) falsehood (civic groups and other leftists).
It’s also interesting that anyone would feel a need to defuse any public anger. MH commentary has us believe that the Korean media is all Dokdo and Mad Cow and no one in Korea cares about the poor woman who got killed.
Neither the distance of the shot, nor the cold-bloodness of the murder shows that it’s done by some 17-year-old female soldier.
Besides, she would always verify and wait for a direct order before she shoots a civilian in a tourist area.
And, as the witness said, there had been 2 shots heard, so, as always, the North Korean version is a complete crap.
I would seriously investigate those “participants” in the meeting for links to KJI. It stinks of leftists.
whether the guard is 13 or 80 or male, female, or a transexual, what does it matter? I don’t think the South Korean public would nod their heads and be like, “oh oh, i see so that’s what happened.” If anything the Korean public will think, “wow, what a f#$ked up country giving a 17 year old girl an AK-47″.
