If you have base access and want to register to vote or request an absentee ballot, be sure to head over to the VFW tent during the July 4 celebration at Yongsan Garrison.
Right now we have two volunteers working the table from about 11:00 until sometime in the afternoon and two more (including yours truly*) from around 5:00 to 8:00 or 9:00, although base access issues have not been completely worked out for the evening crew.
Four people over the course of 10 hours is stretching things a bit, especially since one of our volunteers is about 73 years old (although a healthy and active 73).
If you have base access and are willing to help, email me at andyinrok@lycos.com ASAP. If you are a voting assistance officer, this would be a great chance to take an hour or two to get some practice in. I especially want to make sure we have someone on hand when 17 new citizens get naturalized there at 3:30 tomorrow.
*Between this and potentially getting my head turned into hamburger while covering the demo on Saturday, this will be busy weekend.

can (American) English teachers register then?
Anybody can register. The problem is that most teachers don’t have base access.
If you don’t have access, there are other chances to register. The Democrats are doing regular registration on Saturday afternoons in Itaewon (at the Subway, I think). The Republicans will also be doing some registration events in Seoul starting in August. I will announce those as they come up.
What country are we going to vote for? It doesn’t specify in the article.
Piper,
Sorry, that must have been my arrogant Americanism coming through.
We will be registering Americans to vote in Yongsan Garrison during the July 4 celebration.
