On the way home…..

Not too long ago Scott Burgeson wrote about the lack of the ‘Summer of Love’ in Korea, but apparently not everyone read it. While on my way home I had the opportunity to encounter the “Boobi Boobi” bus - not quite sure what it is, but according to my friends…boobi boobi is Korean slang for what my male dog does (despite being cut) to my little female dog.

On one side of the bus in Korean was something along the line “you work hard so you deserve to go camping with me.” I didn’t take pictures of the front and back of the vehicle because of the license plates (privacy and all) but I did note that on the back of the bus there was a large “Watz up” surrounded by a heart and on the other side of the bus there was a large “Come on in” - in English. Wish I had the guts to enter.

Can anyone translate the following apropos bumper stickers into Korean?

    “If this van’s a-rockin’, don’t come a-knockin’!”

“Grass, gas, or ass: no one rides for free!”

Uhm, you were worried about the privacy of a giant pink and blue bus with hotties in tight shirts painted on the side? Yeah, I guess they were trying to be inconspicuous and would have gotten all up in your stuff for taking their picture.

Or you could have blurred the plates out.

Nice to see this wasn’t an isolated incident:

Guys, asking for “more info” on the bus could be a two-edged sword, you know!

Back in the ’60’s there was a saying that went, “don’t flip through porno mags, you might run into someone you know…”

    Been there, done that….

Go to “Boobi Boobi” I understood is slang for going to “Clubbing” 나이트 so this bus looks like a mobile discotheque..probalby set up for folks live in outskirt of city or for those who missed parting in the bus (while moving) since it is illegal.. Can someone go check it out and post the experience here?

As The Iceberg has noted, Boobi Boobi also refers to a dance style that became popular a couple of years ago.

A painted bus called ‘The Mobile Mall’ occasionally pulls into Ichon-Dong and sets up shop. bulgasari’s link in #4 shows a similar type of business, with the tag ‘fashion shop’ visible on the back.

I’m not sure, but considering the tag on the side of this bus (’Come on in’), it might be a rolling shop.

I’ve seen a bus like this in Hongdae that was a “rolling shop.” What was inside? 성인용품 of course.

There was a black truck just recently found to have been making the rounds of beaches and towns in the states — Florida for one — that was basically a bordello on wheels.

Boobi boobi is now more commonly used to refer to freaking, grinding or any other suggestive dances.
