Death Fan Redux — 2008

Mosquito death fan in action — save that puppy!

It is that time of year again when people are gassing their air conditioners and dusting off the old death fan. It seems that others have noted the Korean concern for breezy death such as neatorama’s essay on “Fan Death”. There is also this interesting side link on the peculiar Italian fear of open windows and drafts entitled “Draft Dodging” at “michellesmentalclutter”.

I have tried to find new and better ways of killing mosquitoes but the mosquito-death-fan is a dream come true called “skeeter bag

It’s not that I would advertise for these guys but a 10-dollar trick for killing mosquitoes and using a death-fan is a pretty cool idea for summer.

How could it be summer in Korea without fan-death?

Heh. That Italian fear of drafts has gone international. Yup, my dear grandma and granpa here in Portugal lived in fear of drafts.
Maybe this goes all the way back to Roman times? hmm…

I love smart cheap ideas like this. And when you’ve harvested enough mosquitoes you can simply ferment them into a high-octane biofuel for your moped…

My goodness! Your blog is the best! My husband and I lived in Sokcho for about a year and a half teaching English. Your views are quite a bit like ours. Korea is wonderful even with all it’s quirks!! Thanks for all your work. Keep it up!
