I bet it will be 12 comments before the black-Korean thing comes out…

…unless this comment scared it away.

Even by the not-so-lofty standards I have come to expect from the Times , it is a truly terrible headline.

    Rejected subtitles:

    “He should understand our culture”

“Doesn’t know Kimchi, Doesn’t Like Spicy Food, Either”

“Presumptive Nominee Uses Chopsticks Very Well”

“How does he like Korean women?”

    “Is he married?”

“Also Can’t do ‘Tell Me’ Dance”

    “Does he know Park Jisung?”

If anyone would have the popular support to “be a dick” to korea (as advocated previously), it’s Obama.

Now there’s a reason to support Obama

Obama wants to renegotiate all free trade deals, including the NAFTA. He wants to break the contract.

So here’s the question. What’s so different about Korean mad cow people demanding renegotiation over US beef? That’s what some Koreans are pointing out. If Obama and Americans are calling to break the contract, why can’t Koreans?

Anyone have an answer for that here?

Because I can’t think of any.

The current president of S. Korea Lee signed the contract. Obama hasn’t been elected yet.

Let’s all hope and pray that the FTA dies a slow, painful death.

If only LMB’s signature was worth a crap in the context of the Free Trade Agreement! (It’s not. The document must be ratified by the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, and by the Congress of the United States.) Even if Obama is elected President, if the Congress ratifies the FTA — don’t worry, though, the Congress won’t — President Obama will be stuck with it. At least, until the Revolution.

Possibly not true — Obama’s also been trying to seed the airwaves with reports that he likes bacon. Which, of course, means he could not possibly be a crypto-Muslim.

If Obama really does want to renegotiate NAFTA he’s in for a hell of a time. Canada and Mexico would like to change a few things also. I think that he might be opening up a can of worms if he goes through with it.

I think Obama may present a dilemma for certain conservative white expats. There may be some difficulty squaring the idea of a Black Democrat president with the need for Operation Total Dickhead versus Korea.

Well, bluejives, that works both ways. Some of you minorities might desperately want to vote in a person of color, yet despair that Obama might not take shit from your ethnic homeland. What to do?

On the other hand, with McCain openly hating y’all, you really don’t have a choice, do you?

    Not quite.

I only brought up the gook quote (right slur, wrong war) in the other thread as a counterpoint to Miser5’s bizarre statement about Roh Moo Hyun promoting racism. Anyway Blueballs has me convinced that McCain is neither racist nor sexist. I never overly cared about political correctness anyway, as you well know, and besides, in America today, it’s OK to be non-PC as long as you are an equal opportunity bigot. There does seem to be some anger management issues going on with Senator McNasty, however, and this does not bode well for a POTUS candidate who says he wants to continue the Mess-in-potamian War indefinitely.

As for Obama, well if he wants to renegotiate the FTA, if its still viable in the future, let him do so. I don’t exactly sit up nights worried about American cars overtaking the Korean market in a free trade scenario.

  25. Posted June 20, 2008 at 7:23 am | Permalink

I’d REALLY like to see the US and Canada erect trade barriers to Korean and Japanese products. It will be great seeing how they rationalize their own barriers while criticizing North America’s.

I can’t see Obama renegotiating NAFTA. With a good chunk of the US going through a water shortage and the high price of gas, renegotiating NAFTA would be good for Mexico and great for Canada. We’ll see, but I think it’s a bunch of campaign hot air.

Have a good look at the people who are the leaders behind the anti-US beef, anti-FTA, anti-McArthur-statue, anti-US, anti-South Korean-government “activities” and “protests”.

    http://gall.dcinside.com/list......5%EB%A0%AC

Very familiar faces. And they are currently in North Korea attending the Korean Unification Conference sponsored by North Korea. Surprise surprise.

What has the South Korean intelligence been doing for the last few years? Oh that’s right, the intelligence agency was declawed by Kim Dae Jung and Roh Mu Hyun adminstrations under the “democratization” program.

Americas overseas interests are too widespread and our culture too introspective for us to be able to meet our intelligence requirements. Korea has different demands, but our intelligence capability is not something that has just recently gone into decline.
Don’t expect Obama to increase funding for black ops.
