Even more disturbing was when I attended a Korea vs China rugby friendly in Seoul two years ago and they brought out the dancing matador/gimp to get the crowd going. Regular rugby fans such as myself were either amused or downright embarrassed but they certainly knew how to turn on the adjumas in the stands.

No, there’s no xenophobia in Korea. As I’m sure Koreans will point out, this same thing happens in the US to Koreans.

Koreans as a group are always specifically targeted in other nations media. It’s always pointed out how Koreans are destroyies other socities. It’s true.

I was at that match. Classic hit. Two streakers that game. About 8 people around me were escorted/arrested and I had the bad luck to bring my loud mouthed Punjabi mate. We had alot of peanuts thrown at us when he crowed “Singh is king” in response to the always classic, “Harbhajan’s a wanker”.

A little part of me died that day.

Maybe this wouldn’t be such a problem if you had to pay $7 or $8/beer like in the US or Canada instead of $3/beer at a game here. On the other hand, Korean baseball isn’t all that entertaining unless there is beer - preferably lots of it - involved. Unless you’re into countless fielding errors, the sound of thundersticks, and the antics of male handclapping cheerleaders, that is.

I’ve seen clips of a few guys jumping onto the ice in the middle of an NHL game, and they get - deservedly - hammered down hard by officials if security doesn’t get to them first.
