Apparently it’s no longer safe to bring your family to the baseball game anymore thanks to drunk foreign men.
Not to defend my jackass dongpo, but when I think about how well the behaved Samsung Lion fans treated Lotte’s Felix Jose in the 1999 playoffs, I’ve just got to laugh.

ever since they closed veterans’ stadium there’s been an uptick in this behivor worldwide.
that incident with jose in 99 was wild..i bet he never imagined he would be doused with boiling ramien during his playing days in korea!!!!
Wow, this article couldn’t come at a better time. Didn’t we just see a heated debate over whether or not foreigners are unfairly held to different standards than Koreans a few threads ago? And here we have foreigners and Koreans who have committed identical crimes.
The foreigners? They are racist jackasses, idiots for whom “physical punishment cannot be ruled out.”
The Koreans? Well, their behavior is the fault of the foreigners.
I swear, you cannot make this shit up.
#3,
Right, so these ‘foreigners’ (the guy could have been a naturalized Korean, the reporter just doesn’t know) are ruining it for everyone…and yet the crowds cheer them on. Man, you’re right. You couldn’t make this shit up.
The article is shite, but - as would happen back home - I hope the offenders (both Korean and non-) took a couple of elbows to the ribs while being apprehended.
I just had an idea. Why not hire Felix Jose to provide security…bat in hand.
US ballpark streakers and those who run on the field mid-game get taken down/out with extreme prejudice.
#5, this is how Australian cricket team member Andrew Symmonds dealt with the problem last summer (37 seconds to 46)

Maybe this wouldn’t be such a problem if you had to pay $7 or $8/beer like in the US or Canada instead of $3/beer at a game here. On the other hand, Korean baseball isn’t all that entertaining unless there is beer - preferably lots of it - involved. Unless you’re into countless fielding errors, the sound of thundersticks, and the antics of male handclapping cheerleaders, that is.
I’ve seen clips of a few guys jumping onto the ice in the middle of an NHL game, and they get - deservedly - hammered down hard by officials if security doesn’t get to them first.
I was at that match. Classic hit. Two streakers that game. About 8 people around me were escorted/arrested and I had the bad luck to bring my loud mouthed Punjabi mate. We had alot of peanuts thrown at us when he crowed “Singh is king” in response to the always classic, “Harbhajan’s a wanker”.
A little part of me died that day.
No, there’s no xenophobia in Korea. As I’m sure Koreans will point out, this same thing happens in the US to Koreans.
Koreans as a group are always specifically targeted in other nations media. It’s always pointed out how Koreans are destroyies other socities. It’s true.
that is destroying other societies
Symonds is an animal. I like how he just casually clears his crease afterwards.

Damn, those players need to hit the gym and bulk up w/ some creatine or whatever crap Mark McGwire and half the players in the 90’s were taking. Them Samsung Lions look weak!
Too bad one of the security dudes was not able to get a sweet blindside tackle on him.
That cricket one is great.
p.s. best pitch-invasion / streaker ever…

That is monumentally awesome on so many different levels.
#9. “and the antics of male handclapping cheerleaders, that is.”
Even more disturbing was when I attended a Korea vs China rugby friendly in Seoul two years ago and they brought out the dancing matador/gimp to get the crowd going. Regular rugby fans such as myself were either amused or downright embarrassed but they certainly knew how to turn on the adjumas in the stands.
