If He Gets Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Can He Get Workmen’s Comp?

A 57-year-old civil servant in the city of Kinokawa in southern Japan was demoted and given a pay decrease after it was discovered that he had been surfing porn all day long, visiting websites more than 780,000 times over a nine-month period. July was his busiest month, clocking in more than 177,000 visits, which averaged out to “almost 10,000 pages a day, or more than 20 each minute he was at his desk.” Workers were separated into cubicles, so his habit wasn’t detected until his computer picked up a virus during one of his visits.

I bet the old guy visited porn sites from time to time and finally got a virus that kept giving him constant popups. Given that he wasn’t computer savvy enough to fix the problem himself, he kept the problem secret for 9 months, at first because of his embarrassment but later because he hadn’t done any work in weeks.

Re #2: Visiting porn sites tends to give people constant pop-ups.
