Can we have a candle light protest against Steve Schertzer?
Just kind of curious, but is everyone else getting the same google ads? I’ve been seeing the same Korean International Dating advertisement for a while now and want to know if it is just me.
I get the same dating ad.
Same here…
“Just kind of curious, but is everyone else getting the same google ads? I’ve been seeing the same Korean International Dating advertisement for a while now and want to know if it is just me.”
That’s usually what I get too.
But in the meltdown threads where people are calling each other “bitch”, I sometimes get the Gay Asians ad.
@#5
Lol really? Can we test that in this thread?
Yes, really. Go ahead and test, but I think certain personalities must be present.
How come every time I post a link, my comment never shows up?
Whew. Thank god for this guy. I thought i had a problem. My problem doesn’t look so bad now.

Make sure to add http://www. in the front. I tried linking it with the full address but it won’t post (I’m assuming it’s going through spam filter).

made me laugh out loud.
Let’s see now … two Korean dating ads, one gay ad, one study abroad ad in South Korea, one Korea Korean ad, and Oh Yes … the comments too!

I heard that the ‘dance-off’ is going to be held on May 6th.
I have the same problem as seoulmilk.
“Can we have a candle light protest against Steve Schertzer?”
That moron doesn’t deserve the attention. (Besides, he’s probably too busy lapping his employer’s nuts to notice.)
One of the ads that pops up when I view Marmot’s Hole is for a site that sells T-shirts targeted towards ex-pats, showing a guy with ‘ 외국인’written on his shirt, which has to be one of the lamest T-shirts ever - like why would even need to write it when everyone’s already staring at you. A couple of ideas for better T-shirts - definitely a “Fan Death” T shirt is needed - that would be cool. And for those who live in the district구 of 노원 (Nowon) in Seoul, how about a shirt that says “In Seoul, 노원 Cares About You.” Maybe Nowon district office should start a “Nowon Cares” campaign for its citizens, or at least a “I love Nowon” campaign. Someone should pitch the idea to the people there.
True!
Raiders of the Lost Ark is on right now.
Haven’t seen that one in years!
Authorities will not prosecute the one Chinese student they arrested for getting violent during the Olympic torch run
http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/ww.....23548.html
Because he showed “remorse”!
@#15:
Yes, I’m sure pressure from the Chinese government had nothing to do with the decision. The Korean government’s threat to hunt down and prosecute Chinese hooligans has made the mainstream media in China. A Chinese passport with the weight of the Chinese government behind it beats SOFA any day.
“and now for something completely different”
Best laugh I’ve had in a while:

#15, 16 - I trust that tonight’s candlelight vigil at the Cheonggyecheon was to protest this gross injustice?
And tomorrow night’s candle light vigil is for the most important issue of all:
TITTIES & BEER!
‘Yes, I’m sure pressure from the Chinese government had nothing to do…’
any proof? to me, this isn’t surprising but it’s got nothing to do with the chinese. you folks also whine koreans are too leninet to koreans for refusing to do justice the ‘western way’™.
How is punishment the western way?
Pawi you are your retarded confucian thinkers need to die off already.
You break the law you get punished. Otherwise whats the god damn point of having a legal system if all you need to do is apologize?
btw that second sentence should be
Pawi you and your retarded confucian thinkers buddies need to die off already.
Also I’d like to point out that I’m Korean.
Fortunately for Korea you old fuckers will soon be gone.

Ten hours before Benicio74 put up the link, I already made the comment “repent and you shall be free.” Koreans and foreigners regularly receive leniency in Korean courts for admitting their crime and showing remorse.
http://www.rjkoehler.com/2008/.....ent-151652
But this does not mean he’s off the hook. I think it only means he’s not in legal custody while he’s waiting for legal proceedings:
The court said it decided against issuing the arrest warrant, as he was repentant over his misdeeds. In addition, his chances of fleeing the country or destroying evidence were slim as he lives in a campus dormitory.
If he were off the hook, they wouldn’t be concerned about the possibility of him leaving the country or destroying evidence.
Another thing, if he gets a slap on the wrist by the courts (which now sounds likely), is Immigration independently able to deport him?
A guy burns down a historic building, he gets probation?
People steal and sell Korean technology worth billions (USD) to the Chinese and they let them go.
What do you think will happen to this idiot when all he did was punch someone. I’m almost certain that guy warranted a beating anyways, although I’m in no way supporting the Chinese when I say that.
yeah, and if we have it your way ie the american way, korea will have one of the largest prison populations on planet earth. perhaps korea and the states can compete with one another.
the answer to korea’s lenient legal system isn’t to make it more like the states where you can get twenty years for a marijuana cigarrette. indeed, in some states, you can be senteneced to life for having just an ounce of marijuana. is that the kind of justice korea wants?
korea would be less safe to have american style law since it produces so many hardened criminals by way of sending non violent offenders to the big house.
As oppose to letting criminals get away?
I just read an article where a bunch of kids gang raped a girl and where some kids were systemically abusing younger kids. Whats the punishment? Nothing.
Korea needs a fair but strict legal system but what we have now is a complete joke.
If you want to commmit a crime you will have to pay the price. The only thing you are truly worried about is not being able to do whatever you want.
BTW Korea is already less safe because we have no real legal system.
I’m almost certain you were raised on a farm in the middle of fucking nowhere. If you dont like the reality of freedom and capitalism then go somewhere else like Thailand.
When people are free to do whatever and think whatever they want you need a legal system. This is what really scares you doesn’t it. Knowing that one day if this happens you become nothing and you lose your artifically inflated sense of importance because of Confucius.
but china’s occupation of tibet is the real issue for the west, ain’t it?

favorite line:
‘we don’t target civilians. we regret the loss of innocent life.’
well then, that makes it ok. you fire a precision rocket into a crowded neighborhood but you don’t mean to hit the innocents, right?
we’ve just created yet more jihadis but damn those koreans for not sufficiently expressing the sentiments of western outrage about tibet!
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05.....ref=slogin
The Korean justice system is lenient. Even the Korean people don’t respect the system. While Korea may have low violent crimes, illegal activities are widespread (sorry for stating the obvious). Anyway, showing no balls will only have a ripple affect of people 무시ing the justice system further. Don’t get me wrong, Korea is a great country, but the authorities? Not so great.
Dang, stacked, tell us how you really feel.
stacked,
goodbye.
Actually you are going, pawi.
@28, the authorities are uneducated rejects from farms.
These confucius loving retards have all gravitated towards politcs because you really dont need to be educated or skilled at anything other than manipulation.
So how is this country supposed to move forward when its government is composed of rejects that love this lifestyle given where they are?
Frankly we need a very violent revolution or something. Democracy doesn’t work when all you have to choose from are idiots.
Wabbit season! Duck season! Entertaining as always.
Speaking of entertainment, went and saw Ironman. Solid movie, really. Unlike a lot of critics I wasn’t bored with the non-action parts. Robert Downey can really deliver a line. I liked him a lot in Zodiac, too. He has cleaned up well and in fact looks pretty yoked. I think we’ll see more from him in the near future. And Jeff Bridges plays a great a-hole.
Pawi and Stacked are each other’s evil twin.
“If you dont like the reality of freedom and capitalism then go somewhere else like Thailand.”
What did the Thais do that makes you hate them so much?
Nobody deserves Pawi, do they?
Stacked, beginning in the 1980s the US has created by far, the world’s worst prison system - more prisoners than China, about 1% of the entire US population, and no effect on the crime rate. And US prisons are a whole lot more dangerous, too, in terms of prisoner on prisoner assault, than in other countries, such as Korea. The US prison system is a model of what to avoid.
Who’s modelling it after the US system? It’s like I’m talking to retards.
PUNISH CRIMINALS.
Its that simple. Do legal systems outside the US not punish criminals? What the hell does the US have to do with this?
According to a study I read the only thing that deters people from committing crimes is prison and its condition. If it’s likely you will die in prison or get seriously injured people do not commit crimes.
That being said, being lenient doesn’t do shit for society. If someone rapes your daughter you want him free?
You have no argument.
Hey Sonagi, regarding your health comment from the other thread, does that mean you eat rice and beans raw?
No, that would be unsafe. Raw grains and beans have antinutrients that, as their name suggests, interfere with the absorbtion of vitamins and minerals. I understand that large amounts of raw grains or beans could even be toxic. I soak them for 12-24 hours to destroy some of the antinutrient properties, cook them thoroughly, which further destroys antinutrients, and then chill in the refrigerator to form resistant starch.
Are you aware of the benefits of GABA sprouted brown rice? I don’t have one of those fancy pants rice cookers and haven’t had much success trying to sprout brown rice using very low heat.
Didn’t know Americans ate rice.
@Stacked:
We don’t export all of what we grow. Rice is actually a staple in southern cooking.
BTW, right now I’m squeezing little key limes to make a key lime mousse. Now when was the last time you folks in Korea saw a real key lime?
The argument you are making is one about deterring crime through harsh prison sentences and conditions - which is exactly the approach adopted by the US (alone) during the last 25 years. And it’s led to: a surging prison population, little effect on crime, and dangerous conditions inside the prison. And the taxpayer pays to keep millions in jail, and out of the economy where they could be contributing labor. But this is the perverse approach you want the rest of the world to adopt - proven many times over to be a complete failure.
Another demonstration as S. Korea begins to import biotech corn for the 1st time since 2001. An adult student recently told me that the popcorn I was eating contained GMO’s. My local ‘Buy the Way’ sells it for 1.000 Won per big bag and it’s pretty damn good! I bet the student didn’t realize that “about 70 percent of S. Koreas soybean imports are genetically modified.” Those against it, say it’s “Monster Food”

If Stacked is indeed Korean he has now replaced I Hyo Ree’s minge, arse and titties as my favorite thing about that country.
#46,
It’s food that needs fewer pesticides and fertilizer…Mmm, yeah, it’s evil if your country is a net exporter of these things.
‘If Stacked is indeed Korean he has now replaced I Hyo Ree’s minge, arse and titties as my favorite thing about that country.’
by ‘if’, do you mean you’re suspicious? the guy ain’t no korean.
‘Knowing that one day if this happens you become nothing and you lose your artifically inflated sense of importance because of Confucius.’ korean guy
yeah, he’s korean. donald trump is korean too. and i don’t even know when confucius lived and don’t give no damn about him. ok?
Never saw any, either in Korea, or outside.

High waves kill nine in S.Korea according to the Associate Press.
Can’t post a link as the comment then keeps getting zapped into oblivion.
@49, hardly anyone in Korea knows regardless its irrelevant. I am Korean btw. Yes you do give a damn about Confucian mr. Pawi because without him you are nothing. Without him you are a reject unneeded by Korea.
@45, first you need to put them in prison. WHen they aren’t even punished its a moot point to cry about harsh punishment.
My god I dont even know what to say. Its a fucking retardfest.
Fortunately for Korea you old fuckers will soon be gone.
I think they will remain as breeders. With “real Koreans” (is there a such thing? Koreans=Chinese+Mongolians) disappearing quickly due to low birth rate, new blood will replace old Chosun blood.
And, if old fuckers are gone, remaining stale fuckers will start a war. The Chinese and the Japanese (even Russians) love to see a war in the peninsula.
And, I have been writing since 7 years ago, there is a war coming. The new Chino-Japan war. Korea and Koreans will get sucked into this conflict and forever disappear from the face of the earth.
A people without homeland.
I have heard that there are four times more more Irish living in America than in Ireland.
This is the only future for Koreans. Massive exodus.
Yes, Koreans should move to the US as the Irish have done.
And, it will help America as well. New blood that is hard-working, Christian, and smart. Some are good-looking to boot.
KoreanAmericans are the future for dying and sick world.
KoreanAmericans for Obama!!!!
good one, project your issues somewhere else. Or better yet right a book about it.
Btw I’m not an American citizen nor a Korean-American. So feel free to snap back into reality once you realize its a Korean saying all this.
IMO, most of the old fuckers i’m talking about never reproduced in the first place.
Its funny how rejects no matter what race stick together.
I read that somewhere around 40% of men will never reproduce, I’m guessing you and pawi fall in that category.
If that’s the future of the world, better to let it sicken and die.
Pawi, that is something that could only come out of a Korean’s mouth. You know it.
#42, Yeah, but I too haven’t picked up one of those pricey rice cookers yet, and haven’t been to keen about putting effort into something whose benefits I might not notice (ie. multivitamins, omega 3’s from fish heads and shellfish…ugh).
Anyway, this resistant starch was new to me, thanks for the info. I can’t recall your opinion on this but…cow milk, good or no?
@arthjm:
I’m not a fan of supplements. I stick to a daily multivitamin and a tablespoon of cod liver in the winter for vitamin D. I don’t think shellfish has much omega 3 content, which is mainly found in cold-water fish like salmon and sardines. It keeps their blood from freezing. Warm water fish don’t need it.
I quit drinking milk three years ago and quit eating milk’s best friend, cold cereal, most of which is junk food jacked up with vitamins. Milk is hyperinsulimic, meaning that it causes your body to produce higher than expected levels of insulin at the meal consumed and the following meal. This is unhealthy for people at risk of type II diabetes, which runs in my father’s side of the family. Milk’s vitamin D is not natural like that of cod liver oil, but an added synthetic. Vitamin D naturally produced in the body with the aid of sunlight is far, far superior. As I mentioned, I supplement with cod liver for vitamin D in the winter when there are few or no UVB rays to stimulate vitamin D production.
The other reason why I skip milk and juice is that caloric drinks don’t trigger a sense of satiety like foods, so people who get a lot of calories from drinks tend to eat more. I get my calories from nutritious, filling food and drink water, tea, and the occasional cup of coffee.
BTW, arthjm, if you’re interested in science, you might check out Science Daily. It’s the best comprehensive science news website and a daily staple for me. I learn something new every day through reading the stories there.
“Wall of Jews” versus the Great Wall:
A wide-ranging group of U.S. Jewish leaders plans to release a statement Wednesday (April 30) urging Jews worldwide to boycott the Summer Olympics in Beijing, citing China’s troubling record on human rights and Tibet.
The statement also notes China’s close relationships with Iran, Syria and the militant group Hamas.

user-81,
The Bible says the Chinese and the Russians will attack the Jews at Armagedon and the Jews will win.
That is near the end time when my Lord,Jesus, will return. I believe the Bible.
Those who have ears to hear, let them hear.

Yeah, Songai, but you’re the person who so easily attributes acupuncture and its effects totally to a placebo, so I don’t know how much credibility you have in terms of what is happening in our physical world. I’ll be sure to tell my (white) American colleague that her cat, who once was successfully treated with acupuncture, didn’t really get healed but really had it all in its head.

Now, tell us more about these mystical TCM veterinarians and the subtleties of the feline qi meridian.
??? I don’t recall posting about acupuncture on this blog or dismissing the effects of acupuncture as a placebo anywhere on the internet. Please refresh my memory with a link, thanks.
wangkon, this ain’t your blog; you got no business deleting my posts, ok? i think marm alrady talked about that.
if marmot starts allowing his guest bloggers to delete posts, then, he loses his editorial control.
this not your blog, wangkon.
Take away the “g” and you’ve got “Wank on”!”
Hey, JK, still waiting for that link.
# 75,
Calm down… What the heck are you talking about? I didn’t delete any of your posts.
Interesting…
Did anyone else realize that certain Koreans are transalating our posts and comments and putting it up online?

#79 - Yep. I’ve also seen certain threads translated and posted into both Chinese and Japanese on a couple of different forums. Nice to know that someone cares.
“Did anyone else realize that certain Koreans are transalating our posts and comments and putting it up online?”
The way they arrange the threads, it’s much easier to follow.

Hi,
I am doing a bit of corporate research in Korea between May 11 and May 15 with a team from England and I’m looking for an single American expat, age 25-35, who watches TV (cable or whatever). We would like to come to your home, preferably on Sunday the 11th, and interview you for 2-3 hours. There is a small $250 honorarium for this. Please contact me at sychin@verizon.net. Thanks you for for response.
So, I’m new to this blog and hope I can post here for assistance. I’m doing research in Seoul from May 11-May 15 with associates from London and am looking for a single American expat (25-35) to interview in-home about TV viewing habits. Any takers? There is a small $250 honorarium involved. Please email me at sychin@verizon.net.
Much thanks.
The Korea Herald makes baseless links between English teachers and the 21 American Pedophiles turned away at Korean Immigration on Thursday.
Why are they bringing English teachers into this? Garbage. Just friggin garbage.
I’m pissed.

Hi,
I am also doing a bit of corporate research in Korea between May 24 and May 35 with a team from England and I’m looking for an single American expat, age 25-35, who watches TV (cable or whatever), uses the internet, has little social interactivity with the local community, prefers to dress in outdated cultural costume, retains most cultural predudices from indegenous culture, and prefers to copulate with broad faced, broad hipped females with small bust lines. We would like to cum on your home, on the 1ist, but preferably on you and your wife for 2-3 hours.
Our company practices safe sexual practices, our researchers use propylaptics and are tested for all known STDs monthly. Our corporate culture abides by our belief that love is a beustiful thing, some thing to be share amongst all ages, as long as the little girl is enroled in school.
We aim to endeavor to ensure that no more
dissocciated white male expats living post-colonial white monkey roles in post-colonial foreign cultured nations should have to miss out of the lastest episodes of CSI 9 Vegas, Discovery Crab Hunting Off The North-Western Coasts Series 6, or state subsidised productions of BBC drama productions marketed overseas for global cultural imperialist purposes.
There is a small $25 honorarium for this. Please contact me at sukmykunt@verizon.net. Thanks you for for response.
Our company is really good, and don’t just send shit out to any old prick on the Internet. Our complex research methods ensure we get good results from our random internet survey efforts. Our share holders know what a good job we do making up the shit we feed them. I’m still paid.
You are one toxic kyopo.
Was that aimed at myself Dogbert?
I studied in Germany for 3 year and do not identify as kyopo. Im not sure if you are being critical or supportive. I just believe the post deserved a satirical re-take.
Very supportive.
Why only 3 years?
Sounds like a biracial woman who got the worst genes from both sides.
We aim to endeavor to ensure that no more

You left out Survivorman, Man vs Wild, and the Military Channel.
Roboseyo, perhaps you should try to repost that on the new open thread. I think this is something that the Marmot might want to pick up on.
I mean it sounds like a joke, doesn’t it. So, 21 American pedophiles were walking through customs at Incheon Airpost when…
Sorry, the link didn’t really link me to it. I’m not a subscriber. It begs alot of questions, however. How did they know they were all pedophiles? Were they all carrying DVD’s with their accomplishments documented? Doesn’t someone have to go to trial and become convicted before the label is put in place? Don’t these trials take awhile, close to a year, to even get going? It also would bring up again, the question of slander and defamation of character which isn’t really a law here unless it interferes with a persons ability to do business. Then, of course, it has nothing to do with veracity at all apparently. I’d like to know more about this, personally.
dogbert is racist.
Okay, I get it now, sort of. I read what you posted further down. It does sound as if the whole group was busted coming in together as a group. Some kind of Association of Men Who Enjoy Sex with Children tour group. Or, as with the beef, there were 600 boxes of potential teachers coming in but in the first box alone they found over twenty pedophiles and so decided to turn back all 600 boxes.
“It does sound as if the whole group was busted coming in together as a group. Some kind of Association of Men Who Enjoy Sex with Children tour group.”
No, it sounds like the MOJ took a list of convicted pedophiles now in the U.S. and put them into a computer so that when and if they ever land at Incheon or some other port they won’t be allowed in.
The KH article is unclearly written and easily misunderstood, just like the one on the Chinese protester whose arrest warrant was turned down. That didn’t mean he wasn’t going before the court later on, just that he wouldn’t be in custody until the hearings.
Korea Thursday banned the entry of over 20 Americans convicted of sex crimes against minors as part of global efforts to crack down on pedophiles, the Ministry of Justice was quoted as saying by Yonhap News Agency.
@93: I guess the things I say frighten some kyopos.
Jesus cries when kyopos embrace identity politics.
No, it actually sounds like they were all busted coming in on Thursday. I’m not ragging on the policy I’m ragging on the reporting.
