I can't think of a more mature and productive move in recent Korean-Japanese relations than LMB deciding not to constantly whine about apologies.

Yes, Japan did horrible things to Korea. Will harping on about it over 60 years later make a difference?

Will closer ties with Japan be better for Korea and the region as a whole?

Unfortunately, for some, anti-Japanese sentiment completely defines who they are; it's utterly enmeshed with their idea of nationality. To be Korean is to be anti-Japanese; to not be anti-Japanese is to not be fully Korean. Sad.

[Erm, before the Korean cyber-police raid my office and piss-test me, I didn't mean that last bit literally. About the beer. Horrible stuff. I'll have the green green grass of rastafarian renown though. Roll up roll up you English teachers of ill repute and find me a nice and green cheroot^^]

[Tentatively tiptoeing into the Marmot's Hole]
"Does this post involve the 'C' word? Um, have we calmed down about the Chinese counter-counter-revolutionaries? Can I have a beer?
Preferably a North Korean one. Did you hear they're going on sale in the US? Anyone fancy a reefer?"
Peace y'all.

"Lee's two liberal predecessors -- Roh Moo-Hyun and Kim Dae-jung -- had taken a tougher position toward the U.S. and Japan, while conducting an engagement policy with the nuclear-armed North."

Clearly the past approach amounted to FAIL. No harm in giving the opposite approach the ol' college try.

Why the hell is that retard Sog\hn still even talking? His party got trounced, he lost his race, why is he even still around? Him and comrade Chung should jump in the river together.

Lee is doing the right thing. China's arrogance has nothing to do with Lee but with their inherent arrogance and belief that they are the center of the world. Is the left, which for the last decade has done nothing but bend over to its enemy while shunning its allies suggesting moe of the same crap?

“Sohn Hak-kyu, leader of the United Democratic Party, asserted that Lee’s low-key posture toward the United States and Japan has resulted in China’s arrogant attitude towards a riot by Chinese demonstrators during Sunday’s Beijing Olympic torch relay in Seoul.”

Does this guy still get a paycheck after not being able to get elected to the National Assembly, or is he making these kind of dumbass comments for free?
