Korea’s 40 Wealthiest

by WangKon936 on April 25, 2008

With the sub-prime tremors cooling down and with nothing else better to do on a slow news day, Forbes has compiled a list of Korea’s richest 40 people.  I know the gallery is not as interesting as the race girls or Djamilya scrubbing away dirt and body oil, but I sort of think that #4, Lee Myung-Hee, is a bit of a MILF.

“but I sort of think that #4, Lee Myung-Hee, is a bit of a MILF.”

At 64, she’d be a GILF.

I shudder at the thought!

To think, you guys are living amongst all the hot Korean chicks in Seoul and I’m over here in NYC with very a limited pool of Kgirls… That’s a slap in the face to me…a very, very hard one. :(

So, the richest Korean is only as rich as Wallace McCain (the frozen French fries guy)? I don’t buy it.

# 5,

The key here is REPORTED income… not actual income, which is who knows what….

Aside from Italy, can anybody think of another democratic country where the richest guy is presently a politician? Just wondering.

Also – and Italy with Berlusconi and his TV stations also springs to mind here – is Chung, at least in principle, supposed to be “uninvolved,” so to speak, with Hyundai Merchant Marine’s day-to-day affairs while he is in office?

Exactly. For instance, take the Samsung supposed ex-Chairman himself:

#3 Lee Kun-Hee

Net Worth $2.7 billion

The recently-discovered embezzled money alone was far more than a paltry $2.7B. Furthermore, I’m assuming his disclosed net worth is simply what his accountants could not hide.

He likely has at least 10x the disclosed $2.7B at his fingertips, if not more.

In his case, if I remember correctly, he owns 4% of Samsung Electronics stock in his own name. At its current market cap of $72 bil, that accounts for all of the $2.7 bil. I think Forbes is just using the publicly available stockholding info, rather than using actual forensic accounting.

Ha! What am I saying? It’s Forbes. What did we expect – research? It’s the tabloid press of business “news”.

Admittedly, if it’s embezzled money, it’s not his :-) But yeah, as you formulate it, he probably has access to much much more money…
