seoulmilk @83....THANK YOU. You summarized what I was feeling exactly. The topic of the thread was NEVER ABOUT foreign crimes in Korea....but people like Sonagi never got it.

Now maybe Songai will get the point.....or maybe not, based on her last 3 comments.

Congrats, Sonagi...you got comments like #75 supporting you....even though that had nothing to do with the topic.

"Why is it that kyopos don’t have the humility to admit that they are wrong?"

correct me if i'm wrong, and i will admit to being wrong if corrected, but the discussion was never about who's right and who's wrong. i thought it was about differences of opinion. and please, stop with generalizing. just my opinion, but you sound just foolish as pawi.

i think there is some misconception going on here. a lot of the gyopos on this blog, at the end of the day, aren't in much disagreement with expats regarding korea. what lot of the gyopos have problem with is the way some of the expats criticize korea/koreans.

lot of gyopos, assuming most are from the states, are proud of being both korean and american. but as much america is our home, we have every right to defend our culture and heritage when it gets smeared by what appears like arrogant, snarky comments from the few expats. we are not defending a corrupt individual. what we are arguing about is the sometimes partronizing/condescending tone of some expats here where to the korean ears, sounds arrogant. it was never intended to be us vs. them. the gyopos, at least at the beginning of the thread, was asking why a non-issue had to be brought up. then we are all grouped together and are called sensitive or accused of being hypocrites and whatnot. well, i think the intentions of most gyopos was to take the flame out before it got worse. i mean, based on how the threads normally go here, as soon as someone brings in a negative aspect about korea which does not relate to the topic, we all know where the thread will lead to...shit piling of korea. so, some gyopos, knowing where the thread will lead as soon as the foreigner issue came up, simply asked why it's being brought up. of course, the rest is history.

anyway, i've rambled too long and i apologize. but seriously, there's pawi and there's couple mini-pawis on the expat side. no?

OK understood, but the main claim was the part I quoted, the rest was a "furthermore". Also the context in which this heated debate started was CM'c comment at #2 about the uncessary bringing of "foreigner" into the topic.

Accordingly, if you don't want to be misread and were responding only to the subsidiary "boldfaced portion" only, then only quote the "boldfaced portion" not the main and original question CM started.

@#79,

You're mixing up quotes. My quote was not in response to the ones you posted from CM. It was in response to this quote:

Once again the question begs to be answered, what has this got to do with foreigners, and furthermore doesn’t it go against the conventional theory that only foreigner crimes are ever reported?

I started comment #24 with this quote, and it is the boldfaced portion, left out of your quote in comment #79, that was the "absurd claim," which was addressed in the rest of the comment. No failed recollection on my part, just a misreading on yours.

CM "Why must some of you make snarky remarks on every posts that have nothing to do with foreigners? This is one reason why people like pawi get their attitude."

CM "Once again the question begs to be answered, what has this got to do with foreigners"

Sonagi "I don’t recall anyone making that absurd claim."

The answer to your failed recollection is at #2 "The foreign teacher at the school most definitely put him up to it." Pretty quick introduction of the irrelevant foreigner to the topic if you ask me. Albeit, I thought it was funny...and the reaction to it way OTT (over the top).

Sonagi DID withdraw her comment…but still couldn’t leave well enough alone with the snarky remarks afterwards. Some withdrawal!

I withdrew my comment, but I did not grow a halo. I will continue to ridicule ridiculous comments and hope others do the same.

@#77
Well, you see, Pawi tends to make sweeping generalization without any justifiable reason, other than the illusion that people act and think alike just because they belong to an arbitrary group that doesn't have anything to do with how people act and think. Comments like that tend to be very damaging to a person's credibility.

However, User-81, the comments you mention are different because... um... well... ah....

I got nothing.
