What the hell? That's a remake?
Maybe they should have both died in the train
accident and then woke up in opposite ends of Korea with
functioning cardboard replicas of 2007 Samsung cellphones
in 1988.

One of the best romantic comedies I've ever seen was the British movie "Sliding Doors" with Gwenyth Paltrow and that guy who was also in The Mummy movies.

"...then again, the remake might have been made with a younger target audience in mind."

Doubt it. The main male character is a working professional.

"The thing that made it interesting for me were all the small (and sometimes not so subtle) cultural references and plays."

That's why I'm not convinced this will work with a North American audience. The original was written and filmed when it was still rare to see Korean couples holding hands in public. I'm just not sure that North American women can sympathize with the title character...then again, the remake might have been made with a younger target audience in mind.

Evidently, advanced screenings have come generally positive.

Will be interesting to see how it pans out. I kind of enjoyed the first one in a take-your-brain-out-and-watch kind of way. The thing that made it interesting for me were all the small (and sometimes not so subtle) cultural references and plays.

I will probably watch the remake, but it will probably suck.
