At the end of an almost completely unrelated piece in the Hanguk Ilbo, I noticed a blurb that police planned to launch a 70-day crackdown — starting today (April 1) on brokers trading in unqualified foreign teachers. Which means I suspect more than a few teachers will get netted in the process.

And Korean Englishee is now in receivership.
I hope it’s as effective as the crackdown on people driving their motorcycles on the sidewalk.
and the crackdown on prostitution.
Australian brothels would say the crackdown on prostitution has worked wonders.
You know, I wouldn’t have thought so, but after considering Nos. 3 and 4 above, I guess the opposite of crackdown really is a cock-up.
The 70 day crack down is scheduled to begin April 1 and will end noon April 2 or sooner should public sentiment dictate they should return to their regular duties of driving around with their lights on and, well, driving around with their lights on.
Well if they devote as much diligence and thoroughness to this crackdown on teachers as they do to assaults and attempted kidnappings on nine-year-olds in elevators, I’m not gonna sweat it.
Those agencies make quite a killing though – a 50% cut for just introducing the teacher to the business. No wonder a crackdown isn’t likely to be effective with easy money like that.
Why so negative? Look what the crack on spitting in public accomplished!
